Wal-Mart also faces many other problems besides growth in the U.S. market. Many workers across the country are filing lawsuits because of sex discrimination and unfair or illegal labor practices. Also, many Wal-Mart locations are and have been attempting to organize a union for workers, which is being fought on all fronts by the company. Wal-Mart is a big target for the labor movement and I don't see the company winning all these battles. It's going to be very hard to keep the company non-union in all 50 states.
I'm not a big fan of Wal-Mart and only shop there when I have no other choices. However, many people love their stores and as long as they keep their prices low, I can't see anyone that can challenge their dominance in the U.S. or possible worldwide markets.
