It Seems Like There Are Rude People Everywhere

Last night I stopped into a store to pick up a few things and noticed a really tall man who was standing at the counter scratching off lotto tickets. The clerk kept trying to get him to move, but he refused and just kept right on scratching those tickets while several people behind him waited. Eventually, I just went around the man and handed my purchase to the clerk and she rang it up and I left. The entire time this was going on this one man refused to move from his position at the counter.

I started thinking more about what happen last night again today and I still can’t believe the arrogance of some people who think the world revolves only around themselves. It would be extremely easy for everyone to adopt the attitude of this guy, but then this world would become even more violent than it already is. I wonder down deep inside what drives a person to have this kind of attitude and not care about anyone but himself? I guess it’s possible he was just oblivious to the other people waiting in line behind him, but at this point I don’t think he should get off that easy.

This guy was so passionate scratching those lotto tickets, it was almost like he knew he was going to win and couldn’t think of anything or anyone else besides his mission to get to the winning ticket. He must have purchased at least 25 of these scratch off lotto tickets and he was taking his time making sure each one was a loser before he moved on to the next one. I really feel bad for the clerks at these stores who must put up with jerks like this guy. I could tell she wanted to yell at him, but she didn’t she just stayed patient at least while I was still there.

This isn’t the only arrogant behavior I see from people at retail locations every single day. 99% of folks are considerate, but I seem to always find that 1% somewhere at some time during my day. Maybe these jerks are born on another planet and are dropped off here on earth to test the courtesy of everyone else. Most likely, they were born into a family of jerks and they learned this behavior before they could even walk or talk. Where ever it is they come from, I wish they would go back there and all people with this type of attitude would follow. At least this way we could get all the jerks in the same location and away from everyone else.

The truth is that everyone has a bad day from time to time and most folks make an extra effort when things are going wrong for them in their own lives, not to make the lives of others miserable just because of them. In fact, most people are friendlier, even if it’s not real, when they are having a bad day because it’s pretty easy to make enemies if we let our personal problems effect the lives of other folks. It’s too bad that when some folks are miserable they feel like it’s their mission in life to make others just as miserable as they are. I just needed to vent out some frustration after crossing paths with this human jerk last night. I know it doesn’t solve anything, but I do feel better, now!
