First let me say that I am not a Democrat or Republican, but I do consider myself slightly right of center when it comes to national politics. As a middle man, I found it quite amusing last week when Barack Obama referred to Hillary as "Bush/Cheney like" after she criticized his answer to a debate question on CNN about talking to dictators around the world. While I consider Barack Obama a superior candidate to Hillary Clinton, Obama's answer to that question was naive and he should have been made to pay for that honest answer on his part.
Sure, in a perfect world everyone talks to everyone else in an effort to find and reach common ground. However, with some of these two bit thugs there is no common ground to be found and many of them will take our efforts at compromise and use our own hard work at peace against us. Most Americans desire a peaceful world, but in some far away places the last thing power hungry dictators want is peace and the reason is they don't understand the benefits of peace in the first place.
Barack Obama is playing right now to extremist elements on the far left in the Democratic Party that believe there is never a good case for going to war. While most Americans of all political political points of view believe war should be the last course of action in a troubled world, there are some folks that believe that war should be stopped at all cost and for any reason. In my view, Barack Obama was hurt by his comments the other day acknowledging his willingness to meet with some world dictators that are nothing more than thugs and bully's in a world that mainly desires peace.
From the early days of mankind there have been people that desire peace and those that are obsessed with war. The last thing the U.S. needs right now as a President of the United States is a leader that believes that all war is wrong from a moral point of view. Of course, the United States should try to avoid war and find other ways to solve the problems of this world. However, to take a no war stance, under any circumstance, in a post 911 world is more than naive and borders on insanity. So far, Barack Obama has made few "rookie mistakes" in his campaign for president. However, he made a big one when he said that he would meet with and give credibility to dictators that are also killers of people that oppose there totalitarian ways of government.
