New York Senator Chuck Schumer took to the Senate floor on Tuesday and insulted the competence and truthfulness of U.S. troops and there leaders in Iraq. While it is not unusual to have liberal democrats attack President Bush for his handling of events in Iraq, Senator Schumer's comments took on a different tone and just like in the days of Vietnam, some democratic politicians have started taking pot shots at the men and women that serve this country in the armed forces. There is no excuse for Chuck Schumer making such a statement against U.S. troops in Iraq and I hope he at least apologize for his derogatory comments on the Senate floor.
In a world where Senator Larry Craig is forced to resign from the U.S. Senate for tapping his foot in the wrong way in a mens room - to Don Imus being forced out of radio for questionable racist comment, Senator Chuck Schumer's words against U.S. troops in Iraq are much, much worse. Where is the outcry from the major news media for Chuck Schumer to resign is office? If it is out there I have not seen it today. However, when Larry Craig and Don Imus messed up, the major broadcast and newspaper media were calling for their heads on a platter. I just wonder how long it is going to take for the major news media to realize that the American people are turning on them in droves because they cover Democrats differently than they cover Republicans.
Senator Chuck Shumer should be forced to resign from the Senate by his colleagues and if they refuse to kick this guy out then the good people of New York State should send this camera hound packing back to private life. While most folks in New York State are liberal, even liberals know how to fight against a war they do not approve of without slapping our hard working troops around on the floor of the United States Senate. Chuck Shumer should be ashamed, but the really sad fact is that he is not ashamed of calling U.S. troops and there leaders incompetent and that is the main reason he does not deserve to serve in the United States Senate anymore.
