I wrote a few days ago about how 'Britain's Got Talent' winner Paul Potts had gone from a humble mobile phone salesman in Wales to an international singing sensation in a matter of six (6) short months. Now on Monday Paul Potts will be opening the NYC main Bloomingdale's location and from all initial reports, his new album (CD) 'One Chance' is heading for huge success in the United States. So far, Paul Potts has already sold over one million copies of his new CD's around the world, but the powers that be have brought Paul to the U.S. on very limited occasions. First, Paul visited the United States only a few days after his victory on 'Britain's Got Talent' to appear on the NBC morning program, 'The Today Show'. Then all of a sudden no one in the U.S. heard much more about Paul Potts until a few weeks ago when he dazzled millions of people on the 'Oprah Show' in Chicago.
My thinking is that the people that are managing Paul Potts career right now want to create a sense of anticipation in American audiences when it comes to Paul Potts U.S. career. In the same way Col. Tom Parker managed the career of Elvis Presley, Paul Potts management may be trying to pull off the same type of anticipation desire for Paul Potts that was felt by Elvis Presley years before him. Col. Parker forced Elvis Presley into a world a seclusion so when Elvis did make a public appearance it was a big time event. The past few weeks I have been thinking that Paul Potts management team might be trying to promote Paul's amazing talent in the same way in the U.S. and they might have just found a way to get Paul noticed without radio airplay. Many things have changed since the days of Elvis Presley, so Paul Potts will be able to promote his talent in other counties while at the same time limiting his exposure to the worlds most important music market, the United States of America.
On Monday, millions of Paul Potts fans will see him live on network television as he opens the windows at the main New York City Bloomingdale's store. My guess is that after that store opening, we will once again see little of Paul Potts in the United States so the anticipation factor can continue to build his career in America. Paul Potts is a very special human being with a talent from God. I know this because every time I hear this young man sing on television or via the Internet on YouTube he has the ability to effort my spirit and mood. I have no doubt that Paul's number one promoter, Simon Cowell, knows what he is doing in Paul's career and the rest of the world might just wake up someday and say, 'where did this Paul Potts guy come from'?
