Is It Time For MSNBC To Be Shut Down?

In the short history of cable news television there have been few greater disappointments than with the cable news channel, MSNBC. Almost from day one, this combination of Microsoft and NBC News has had a flashy set and interesting commentators, but few viewers on any given day. Over the years I have watched some of the live breaking news that is covered on MSNBC and for the most part that coverage has been fast, accurate and interesting to watch. However, once the hostage standoff or police chase is over, MSNBC just gets more boring by the minute. Leaving aside the stupid 'climate change' coverage that has been put out as news the past few days, as a whole MSNBC has had chance after chance to get their act together. However, in the end they can preform little better in the ratings than a 30 minute network newscast that repeats itself over and over again on CNN Headline News.

I believe the problem with MSNBC is the same problem die-hard liberals are facing all across the United States and that is that the American people want to hear optimistic news and not a bunch of negative, politically driven, sob stories that are put out by the DNC and then rebroadcast on cable news outlets like MSNBC. In the same way conservative talk radio found and kept a large audience of Americans listening, Fox News took that same principle and applied it to cable television with fantastic results. While some far left liberals believe that the only way to achieve success in media is by playing the same old race and class envy cards that got them elected decades ago; people and companies like Fox News and Rush Limbaugh have appealed to what is right and good about America rather than trying to constantly harp on what is wrong with our country. I believe that most Americans are good hearted and when they achieve financial success in the U.S. they feel blessed to have their hard work pay off. Many in the liberal media despise this way of thinking and every time they try and take the U.S. down the road of class envy and other negative coverage they always come up short of people that want to hear a negative message about the country they love.

Most of the prime-time coverage that has been offered to Americans on MSNBC over the past decade has been coverage of what is wrong with America and then trying to find out who is to blame for that trouble. As if Americans did not have enough real problems in their own life, MSNBC seems to think we need to be reminded of even more problems when we get home from work. MSNBC has continued down the tired old road of old time liberalism that most Americans have thankfully moved past over the last 30 years. Long ago most American decided that if they wanted to really live the American dream, liberalism was not the mechanism to get them there. Yes, it is time for MSNBC to go off of cable television and hopefully something more politically moderate and palatable to modern day America will take it's place. Right now, MSNBC is a damaged brand name and no amount of change can save this network from eventually being turned off and quickly forgotten by the American people.
