Search Engine War, Google Against Microsoft/Yahoo Takeover

Today, the worlds most popular search engine, Google, came out strongly against the proposed Microsoft take over of search rival Yahoo. I believe Google should be rightfully concerned that Microsoft is trying to take over control of the Internet by acquiring Yahoo. That said, many people believe that Google already took over the Internet years ago. In some ways it is fun for regular guys, like myself, to watch billion dollar companies fight with each other like children in a sandbox. From my limited experience working with the Internet, Google is a much more open and honest citizen than Microsoft. While Microsoft has never personally done anything to hurt me, they have never found new ways to help me either. The 'Hutch Report' blog is hosted by Blooger, which is owned by search engine, Google.

All of the Internet services I use to write and publish this daily blog are offer to me and millions of other people free of charge by Google. On a regular basis, Google finds new ways to help novice Internet users, like myself, better understand and use the vast resources of the Internet via blogging. In addition to providing me with free Internet resources to operate and publish this blog, Google also allows me and millions of other people to use the best and most state of the art visitor tracking system available. Google Analytics is offered free of charge to people like me and it is the best tool I have ever seen when it comes to real time tracking of visitors. Unfortunately, when I think of Microsoft I think of a big brother figure that never gives anything it makes away for free. Yes, I understand that companies need to earn a return on investment – but Google has found a way to do that without charging hundreds of dollars to Internet users in the process.

The mindset between Google and Microsoft is huge and I personally believe that Google's business model is superior to that of Microsoft when it comes to the Internet. Microsoft is mainly a computer software company which helps to explain it's proprietary way of doing business. However, to most people the Internet is a long way from being a business that can or should be run like a multi billion dollar software company. Instead, the Internet is really still in it's infancy and it needs time to grow and develop over the next ten or fifteen years. The reason the Internet and companies like Google have become so successful is because they have made it possible for regular people, like myself, to learn the Internet and in that process – innovation is continually found and the Internet product is constantly being improved for the better.
