Fat Cells Remain Even After Weight Loss

Recent research suggests that when a person loses weight, the number of fats cells that occupy their body remains constant. I always thought that was the case anyway, but maybe I was wrong. I have always known that fat cells within the body stick around even when a person is thin unless they are removed through some kind of surgical procedure. From my knowledge of fat cells within the body, those cells either shrink or grow depending on the number of calories consumed each day. However, new research suggests that the human body destroys and than recreates 10% of the body's fat cells each year. That would mean that ever fat cell in the human body is replaced every decade or so.

Since the body's fat cells do not remain constant forever, researchers in weight management might be able to somehow modify how the body creates new fat cells in it's ongoing replacement process. It is simple amazing to me how many scientific discoveries have been made in the field of weight loss over the past few years. So much has changed in the world of weight loss that many of the traditional wisdoms that we were taught as young people no longer are considered proven facts when it comes to why some people get fat while others do not. This new research is proving that all cells in the body, even fat cells die off and are then replaced with new ones. For years now people have had Liposuction in order to remove fat cells from their bodies. However, if this new research pans out, Liposuction will not forever rid the body of fat cells - but instead it just removes them for a short period of time until the body replaces them over several years.

There was a time when Liposuction was consider cutting edge medicine when it comes to removing unwanted body fat from the body. However, it might turn out that the research used to justify Liposuction might have been flawed from the start. Once scientist were able to crack the human being genetic code, all types of old science has been replaced with better information on how the human body really works. As I have said before, the real secret to long term weight loss will only happen when scientist are able to learn decisively from DNA testing exactly what is happening inside our DNA when we gain weight. I must admit I was shocked when I first read this report about fat cells dying off and then being replaced over time by the body.

In reality, I should not have been surprised that fat cells regenerate just like all other cells in the body - but that just show how brainwashed I was with arcade medical beliefs. Inside our bodies there is a massive factory that is building new cells and removing old and dying ones 24 hours per day. Without meaning to sound too out of touch, in my view what our bodies do each day is nothing less than a miracle. Inside that massive factory that we call our human bodies, there is also a war that is waged everyday for our very survival between good and bad cells as well as between good and bad bacteria. On most days we get lucky and the good guys win the day. Right now nothing is more important to human health than to discover why most of us are gaining weight even when we spend a bunch of time trying to prevent it. This new research on fat cells will be another piece in that massive puzzle of research that will eventually lead to an answer.
