OPEC Against The World Over High Gas Prices

As most nations around the world are urging OPEC to pump more oil in order to stop the ever increasing price of gas, most OPEC nations are holding firm to their old outdated policies which have allowed them to control both the supply and demand of oil for decades. Recently, Saudi Arabia decided to break with OPEC and start pumping more oil to deliver to a hungry worldwide market - but to date, no other OPEC nation has followed their lead. Instead, most OPEC nations are angry at Saudi Arabia for deciding to unilaterally pump more crude oil. There is a big battle brewing on the horizon that will be fought between the oil rich countries of OPEC and the rest of the world.

Right now, the member nations of OPEC are becoming rich beyond their wildest dreams as the price of crude oil hovers around $150 per barrel. Like so many other people in the past, right now most Members of OPEC are feeling pretty big and bad as their bank accounts fill to overflowing as their man made manipulation system controlling the price of crude oil is making them mega rich. While most OPEC nations are feeling strong because of their over inflated newly found wealth, they are forgetting one unmistakable fact. The nations, that they are ripping off, and the people that call those nations home are the most militarily powerful countries on this Earth. In fact, most OPEC nations would not be able to defend themselves from their own angry citizens if they did not receive military aid from major nations like the United States.

While OPEC member nations are feeling pretty good right now because their bank accounts are flush with American dollars, in reality if they believe the people of the United States and other major nations around the world are going to allow them to continue to manipulate the price of crude oil without retribution, they are some of the richest fools to every occupy the planet. One of biggest negative issues that has always plagued the Middle East is one of short sightedness. While living for the day or the moment is a mentally healthy way for average people to live, for a business or nation, it will prove to be a fatally flawed plan that will eventually lead to problems.

In some ways, it appears that some OPEC nations are starting to treat the rest of us like they have treated their own citizens for decades. A narcissistic attitude of inflated self importance often times follows a person or nation when they become wealthy at the expense of other nations and/or their own people. I personally believe that some leaders of OPEC nations look upon the citizens of the United States in the same way they look at their own people. If that attitude proves to be the case, there are going to be some really strange looks on the faces of these leaders when the people of the world turn out to not be meek sheep that are just sitting around and waiting to be taken advantage of. Eventually, OPEC will fall apart under it's own weight and when that time comes, hopefully, the world crude oil market will once again go back to the supply and demand driven system that worked so well before OPEC was created.
