As polls open in New Hampshire, people surrounding the Hillary Clinton campaign for President are searching furiously for a way to stop the run away train called Barack Obama. Obama not only won in Iowa a few days ago, but he has managed to pull into the lead in New Hampshire where he has trailed Hillary Clinton for months. Everyone knows that Hillary Clinton would commit political suicide if she somehow downed Barack Obama over his African-American race, but does his religious upbringing carry the same potential downside for Hillary Clinton? We may soon see as some Clinton insiders are reportedly urging Hillary to make public the fact that Barack Obama was brought up as a Muslim.
My think here is that Hillary will be destroying herself if she tries to slander Barack Obama with some kind of religious slur while he is riding high with the American people. Over the past few months, word has leaked out that Barack Obama is a smoker and also that he smoked marijuana in his youth. I have little doubt that these revelations came from the Hillary Clinton camp, even though publicly they have distanced themselves for them. It does hurt Hillary Clinton in the fact that all Americans, both Democrat and Republican understand all too well how they run political campaigns because we have fresh evidence from when her husband ran for President two times in the past.
Right now, Barack Obama is headed for a big victory tomorrow night in New Hampshire and the sad fact for Hillary Clinton is that there is nothing she can do to stop Obama's momentum before that vote. From my point of view, I believe that if Hillary Clinton loses badly in New Hampshire tomorrow night and then again in South Carolina, she will do the honorable thing and withdraw from this race to support Barack Obama. I saw tears in the eyes of Hillary Clinton for the first time today. While most people thought she was showing emotion for the first time just to gain votes in New Hampshire, my first thought was they she finally understood that she would not beat Barack Obama for the democratic nomination which is something she has prized for years. Anyone that has worked so hard for a goal or a job would be in tears if they saw all of their hard work go down the drain in such a short period of time.

John McCain Running Against Barack Obama In New Hampshire
In a strange twist, GOP candidate John McCain is finding himself running not only against his fellow Republicans - but more so against Barack Obama in the state of New Hampshire. Why? Because in New Hampshire, there are many voters that are unaligned or put another way Independents. The reason John McCain is concerned about Barack Obama is because Obama is on fire right now with younger voters and it is likely that many young voters will request a Democrat ballot, instead of one for the GOP so they can vote for Obama. John McCain's biggest strength in New Hampshire is from voters that consider themselves Independent and not true blue Republicans.
In decades of following U.S. politics I have never seen a year when one candidate moved up in the polls as quickly as Barack Obama. There is a small chance that he will peak too soon, but I don't really believe that will happen. When the buzz word, 'change', for the campaign was discovered in Iowa – Hillary Clinton's campaign was hurt badly. Barack Obama is viewed by people in both the Democrat and Republican Party as a merchant of change more so than any other candidate. When Barack Obama won the Iowa caucuses he also did something else that no African-American candidate has ever done in a race for the White House. Barack Obama actually had more people vote for him than pollsters predicted. In previous elections, some voters lied to pollsters about supporting an African-American candidate – but when it came time to vote they did not support them.
John McCain is hoping that he will be able to maintain enough young GOP voters in order to win the New Hampshire primary this week. However, I believe he is facing an uphill battle. Barack Obama has all the momentum right now and if he wins in New Hampshire, then the rest of the country will get behind him in short order. The major news media can talk of little else than John McCain this week as the New Hampshire primary nears, but that talk will completely disappear if McCain loses in New Hampshire. While John McCain is one of the most experienced politicians running for the presidency, in a change election that experience is a negative and not a positive to John McCain's chances at victory.

Cumbres Pass Missing Snowmobile Riders, Alive
In what is turning out to be the good news of the day, six (6) missing snowmobile riders on Cumbres Pass finally got through to 911 to let everyone know they are alive. In that call they said everyone was cold, but alive and most certainly they are looking forward to getting rescued. Cumbres Pass is located northeast of Denver and northwest of Taos New Mexico. While I have never visited Cumbres Pass, I have visited Red River New Mexico on several occasions, so I do understand how snowmobile riders could get lost and/or trapped this time of year. I was just talking with my wife last night about these lost snowmobile riders and then this afternoon they called police to let them know where they were.
The mountains of Colorado and some parts of New Mexico are some of the most beautiful places on Earth, but in winter time they can also be some of the most dangerous. Riding on a snowmobile looks like fun to me, but unfortunately I live in Texas and have never got the opportunity to ride one. Of course, riding a snowmobile down the snowy streets of a city is much different than going off road and into the virgin snow of mountains where anything can happen. More than likely, these six young men learned a valuable lesson in regards to 'Mother Nature' this past weekend and they will most likely be better prepared next time they head off into the wilderness on their snowmobiles.
I read and report on so much bad news everyday from people dying in accidents or from murder to politicians that seem to lie every time their mouth is open. However, it is so nice to be able to write about these six young people that survived some of the most harsh weather conditions on Earth to finally be found and go home to families that have most likely gone without sleep for days because of concern for them. Good news is always welcomed by me because I consider myself a optimist and when that news comes on a Monday morning, then I say – 'this might just be a good week, after all'.

Hillary Clinton Preparing To Drop Out Of The Race?
While I believe some people might be jumping the gun when it comes to speculation that Hillary Clinton might be dropping out of her 2008 campaign for President, if she is beaten badly in New Hampshire that could very well happen. No where in Hillary Clinton's play book for winning the democratic nomination for President in 2008 was there a good plan for victory if Barack Obama won both Iowa and New Hampshire. However, that possibility has become a probability as new polls show Obama with a double digit lead going into that states primary. It always happens that political pundit are wrong when they make predictions about what the American people will do when it comes to voting for a President of the United States.
Hardly any campaign professionals were talking about 'change' as a big issue until Iowa voters said it was the number one reason why they voted in that states primary last week. Now it is almost impossible to hear any candidate for President talk about anything else but why they are the best candidate for change in the 2008 race for the White House. When the issue of change became the number one reason why people voted in Iowa, Hillary Clinton's chances of becoming the next President of the United States dropped significantly.
There is a small chance that Hillary Clinton will drop out of the democratic race for the White House if she is beaten badly by Barack Obama in New Hampshire, but I wouldn't bet on it. Hillary Clinton has dreamed of being President long before her husband ever ran for that office and deep rooted dreams are not so easily walked away from when completion is so close. Political pundits are suggesting today that Hillary Clinton will pull out of the race if she is beaten badly by Barack Obama in New Hampshire, but aren't these the same political pundits that thought she would win easily just a few weeks ago? Too many polls and too many talking heads create nothing but confusion. However, there is nothing confusing about voters showing up on election day and making political pundits and pollsters sometimes look silly.
