A wise man told me once that if I ever wanted to get rich I would need to get rid of my old thinking of following the crowd and start doing the opposite. While that advice might sound crazy to some of you, in reality there is a reason why 80% of the financial riches of the world are in the hands of 20% of the people while the other 20% of financial wealth is shared by 80% of the population. Yesterday, financial guru Warren Buffett announced another winning year for his company, 'Berkshire Hathaway', as most people in the United States are suffering from a weakening economy due to the current housing market slump.
For decades, Warren Buffett has out preformed most sectors of the US investment marketplace while at the same time turning Berkshire Hathaway into one of the most expensive stocks in the world. While most investment professionals choose to live in New York City, Warren Buffett has kept his tremendous wealth pretty much to himself by living in the heartland of the United States in Omaha, Nebraska. Even in colleges and universities around the world, students learn about Warren Buffett and how this mild mannered man built a small company into a worldwide giant over his lifetime. In recent years, Warren Buffett has decided to give most of his wealth away upon his death to charity.
While I have not been successful in not following the crowd when it comes to buying and selling investments, I am intrigued by the strength of character it must take for people like Warren Buffett to buy companies when no one else wants them and then turn those companies around over time. The real secret to making money involves doing the opposite of most people and sticking to that plan through thick and thin. That said, in the real world there is more to life than making a boatload of money. While some people have the ability to continually do the opposite of everyone else and become rich in the process, most people would rather fit in rather than stand out when it comes to financial security.
So I say, just let the rich get richer. I prefer to have close personal relationships rather than be a loaner that most people would not choose to hang out with. Sure that attitude will not make me a wealthy man, but I believe I am happier placing more value on friends and family and less on how much money I am worth on some balance sheet locked away in some safety deposit box at a bank.

Nancy Pelosi Wants To Sue The White House
In an angry emotional state, yesterday Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi said that she might consider suing the White House because the US Attorney General will not follow her direction and start investigating members of the Bush administration for wrong doing. Just in case Speaker Pelosi is asleep at the wheel, this time next year neither President Bush or any member of his administration will still be in power. To me, it is like Nancy Pelosi is living in a world that most Americans have moved past. During the last congressional election cycle, the War In Iraq and Bush administration missteps were big issues during that election. However, most US voters have moved on to other issues while Speaker Pelosi and other congressional liberals are still stuck in the past.
In reality, most liberals remain in the past long after a majority of the American people have moved on to other issues. Maybe the same could be said about conservatives because President Bush clearly has his head in the sand when it comes to the current problems facing the US economy. When I first heard today that Nancy Pelosi might consider suing the White House because of the actions of the US Attorney General, I had to just laugh. Any American that has ever tried to get a civil case going in a court of law understands all too well that with less than a year to go in the Bush administration, there is no way that Speaker Pelosi or anyone else could get a cause of action before a federal jury before President Bush is long gone from the White House and living in Dallas, Texas.
Thankfully, Barack Obama seems to understand a new and better way to lead the democratic party and if he is elected as President this November, hopefully he will be able to garner some kind of control over Nancy Pelosi and other liberals that seem to want to solve all of this nations problems in a court of law. I don't know if Nancy Pelosi is an attorney or not, but she sure sounds like one when she makes statements about wanting to sue the White House. Doesn't Nancy Pelosi understand that she is suppose to make the laws for attorney's and courts to enforce? Apparently not.
Most Americans, Democrats included, have been very disappointed in the actions of Nancy Pelosi and her counterpart in the Senate, Senator Harry Reid. Neither leader has shown any real leadership skills since taking power and both should be shown the door by fellow Democrats if that party is lucky enough to hold power again after the 2008 congressional elections.
