Don't get me wrong, Saddam Hussein was one of the worst men to ever walk the face of the Earth - however, the ways and means of going to War in Iraq will be remembered by historians as a clever tricked used by some in the Bush administration to settle an old score with Hussein and the American people went along willingly because of our anger and outrage over the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001. Seven years later, most Americans still look at the War Against Terrorism as important - but today it is not an open wound issue that cries out of vengeance like it was seven years ago.
When President Bush went to war against Afghanistan, he was supported by most Americans and today he still is. From ever bit of intelligence that has been released to the public, it is clear that Osama bin Laden who was then living in Afghanistan masterminded the September 11th 2001 attacks on the United States and the Taliban government there supported his actions. The United States of America had every right to attack Afghanistan after that country supported bin Laden's actions on 911 and the only problem remaining today is that bin Laden is still a free man.
Even while the Afghanistan War was still being fought, some in the Bush administration were already planning how they would turn Americas outrage at the September 11th 2001 attacks from Afghanistan to Iraq so they could muster public support to settle their old score with Saddam Hussein. Unfortunately, most Americans followed the intelligence data that was told to them by Vice President Cheney and President Bush, intel that later was proven either false or completely misleading. While some in the Bush administration did a disservice to this country by trumping up untrue charges against Iraq, in the end - most of us just went along because our hearts were filled with anger and rage.

Memories Of Horror, September 11th Seven Years Later
On this date, seven years ago - the United States of America was changed forever when terrorists hijacked multible jet aircraft and with murderous rage killed thousands of citizens from around the world. All across the world today, September 11th, 2008 - people are remembering the events of 911 and paying tribute to the people that lost their lives on that terrible day. For most people, September 11th 2001 was a day when the United States of America changed forever.
Over the past seven years, the terrorist attacks of 911 have not only changed the lives of the family members that lost loved one on that horrible day, but in smaller ways September 11th, 2001 has changed the way each and everyone of us live our daily lives. From long lines at airports to the men and women that have been placed in harms way to fight the War against terrorism - September 11th 2001 unfortunately changed the American way of life, not for the better, for upcoming generations.
As we all take time to think about and remember September 11th 2001 in our own way today and pay tribute to the innocent people that found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time and the hundreds of rescue workers that also died trying to save total strangers - let's also remember a different time in the United States when we had more freedom than today. Unfortunately, there will always be a battle in the world between the forces of good and evil and while most people just want everyone to get along - in reality that will never happen.

Wall Street Fears Lead To Complete Stock Market Dysfunction
One day it's up and one day it's down and not just by a small amount anymore. Anyone that has a substantial amount of money invested in US stocks is concerned about the Wall Street roller coaster that is taking their hard earned money for a ride. At the root of this current wild ride on Wall Street are two things. The first is high energy prices or in other words crude oil prices that are causing everything we buy to go up faster than they should. The second reason Wall Street is dysfunctional right now is the US mortgage crisis and the big 'what's next' question that has bothered investors for months now.
Just two months ago, President Bush and the US Congress rushed to the rescue of Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac with words like, we just want to make the money for a bail out available if they need it, but we really don't think they will need those billions of dollars of guarantees that we are providing. Now just two short months later, Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac are broke and now the US taxpayers are on the hook for their poor lending practice of the past. This is not a Republican or Democrat problem, but one of Congress and President Bush not wanting to let down voters right before an election.
To put it simply, the past two or three years - the housing market and the mortgages that make it possible to expand have been acting in an outrageous and out-of-control way which in the end put some of Americans largest banks and the very US economy we depend upon for our jobs and retirement income at risk. While major US banks have been losing billions of dollars on mortgage loans they should have never made in the first place, many former employees and outside brokers of these banks have made off with billions of dollars at the expense of everyone else and what's really sad is they broke no laws in doing it.

Networks Find Ratings Gold In Gov. Sarah Palin Interviews
There is only one thing that will motivate liberal television networks more than a Barack Obama victory in November and that is the high ratings they get every time Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska is shown on their network. First, Gov. Palin's speech at the Republican National Convention pulled in record ratings and then this past weekend, Fox News ran a bio show on John McCain's VP pick and got the highest rating of any bio show in it's history. Now tonight, Charles Gibson of ABC 'World News Tonight' has traveled to Alaska for three separate interviews with Gov. Palin and that network is hoping to capture ratings Gold, as well.
Of course, the powers that be at NBC and MSNBC will refuse to follow the will of the people once again and instead of giving Gov. Palin a fair interview to express her opinions on the issues - they instead will be working overtime this weekend - I'm sure, to try and dig up more dirt on her in an effort to help Barack Obama's campaign which is suffering badly because of his own mistake in referring to Gov. Palin as a 'pig with lipstick'. In a way I am kind of impressed with Charles Gibson and ABC for taking the lead in giving Gov. Palin a fair chance with a one on one sit down interview.
The media elites in New York City and Washington D.C. have completely shown their biases this election campaign as they have gone out of their way to promote Barack Obama at every turn. However, if Charles Gibson and ABC News get a big rating Friday night on 20/20 interviewing Sarah Palin - the capitalism and ego of getting huge ratings will soon diminish the need of the mainstream media to elect Obama at all costs in 2008. Within the past two weeks, the real media star of the 2008 race for the White House has changed from Barack Obama to Sarah Palin.

GOP Goes After Oprah Over Gov. Palin Snub
If Oprah Winfrey was not ready for hardball politics when she first endorsed Senator Barack Obama for President, she certain now knows what is in store for anyone that dares to challenge either major party candidate in a general election. GOP operatives are working overtime to get white women angry at Oprah because she will not invite Gov. Sarah Palin on her top rated daytime talk show until after the November election. This GOP campaign is sort of a racist/non racist approach to make Oprah look bad.
Personally, I believe it was a mistake for Oprah Winfrey to endorse Barack Obama in the first place. The very fact that she put her Gold plated brand name up for ridicule over a presidential candidate should make everyone wonder - 'what was Oprah thinking'. What really should concern Oprah the most is that she has come out totally in favor of race over gender and that is an issue where she will most certainly come up short when it comes to the women that regularly watch her television show.
For many of these regular women that think Oprah hung the sun in the sky, a new realization is starting to enter their minds. Unlike them, Oprah Winfrey is a rich woman beyond most of her viewers wildest dreams. It is very easy for Oprah to choose race over gender because she already has more money than she could ever spend in her lifetime. However, many of the women that watch Oprah Winfrey's television show are not wealthy, but they have experienced gender based discrimination all of their life. Right now, Oprah is between a rock and a hard place of her own creation.

Casey Anthony Case Proves People Need Someone To Hate
As millions of people around the world have been following the case of Casey Anthony, something I was told a long time ago may be at play in this case. A wise person once told me that people always need to have someone to hate. Since the early days when mankind crawled out of caves and started modernizing their lives till today, there have always been crazy people that have been used by regular people to prop up their enter desire for hatred. From Hitler, to more recently OJ Simpson and now Casey Anthony - there are certain genes inside of most of us which cause this need to seek out strange and crazy people so we can hate them.
In this crazy mixed up world, we don't need to look far to find such people like Casey Anthony who waited a full month before she reported her two year old daughter Caylee missing to police. Then when you add to that strange behavior the daily lies that are released to the news media from Cindy and George Anthony - you have a ready made family that is easy for most people to hate. Poor OJ Simpson, right now he is on trial again in Las Vegas and hardly anyone cares to hate him anymore for his previous bad acts because the newest person in the world for everyone to hate is Casey Anthony.
Whether it is because life is so hard or some other logical reason, there is no doubt that we are all ingrained with some kind of genetic signature in our DNA that gives us the urge to hate something or someone in our daily lives. At some future date, the case of missing Caylee Anthony will be solved and in one way or another her mother Casey Anthony will face justice. However, it won't be long before some new person will become the worlds chosen person to hate for awhile and when that time comes - millions of people will focus all of their negative energy and hateful thoughts upon that new person.

Most Men Think Gov. Sarah Palin Is Smoking Hot
As I make my daily rounds I have discovered that most men I talk to think Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska is smoking hot. Whether this attitude about her physical appearance actually ends up gaining more votes for the McCain/Palin ticket is something else entirely. However, back when President Clinton ran for office - thousands of women voted for him because they thought he was a good looking man. Now I guess the major question is will Sarah Palin effect men in the same way Bill Clinton effected women?
While I would never vote for a candidate for President based on looks, I do believe many people are persuaded by physical appearance and in so many ways that attitude can lead to problems for the country. I believe there is more to this Sarah Palin being smoking hot story than just her good looks. When Gov. Palin talks, she sounds like the kind of woman that most men would like to take home to meet their mother - while at the same time these same men would love to go hunting, fishing and watch NFL football games with her on the weekend.
For me personally, I like the way Gov. Palin explains her stands on the issues. Her manner of speech is something different in the world of politics and there is a certain kind of 'down home' flavor in the way she chooses her words. In the same way most men love to listen to southern women talk with that southern drawl, Gov. Palin of Alaska has her own accent which is very pleasing to a great number of men. When women voted for Bill Clinton based only on his looks, I remember being angry that they were so superficial. If now men vote for Gov. Palin for the same reason - I wonder if most women will feel the same way?

Texas Gulf Coast Evacuates Ahead Of Hurricane Ike
Last year, Hurricane Dean was on a direct path for the Texas Gulf Coast before changing direction and hitting Mexico. This year, people that live along the Texas Gulf Coast from Brownsville to Corpus Christi are not taking any chances with Hurricane Ike as it's projected path is very similar to that of Hurricane Dean last year. The new projections have Hurricane Ike heading directly for Texas somewhere between Brownsville and Corpus Christi and also directly in it's path is South Padre Island.
I stopped by a convenience store tonight for a few things and the clerk at the store said that the guy that was going to relieve him in the morning had left earlier in the day to evacuate his mother from Freeport Texas. He was not positive about this guys prospect of getting back from such a long trip before his shift tomorrow morning. Like he correctly said, getting into Freeport is not the problem - it's the getting back out that will prove difficult because of the amount of people that are all trying to evacuate this area at the same time.
While most people in South Texas are hoping that Hurricane Ike either reduces in strength or changes directions before this weekend, in reality - 2008 does seem like the year that a major hurricane is going to strike the Texas Gulf Coast. Here in Waco, Texas - we are the sister city of Corpus Christi which means that many evacuees from the Corpus Christi area will be sent here to Waco if Hurricane Ike approaches this large metro area. May God be with our neighbors along the Gulf Coast in South Texas and I hope the loss of life is kept to a minimum when this hurricane comes ashore this weekend.
