Most young people do not believe that bad things will happen to them, so millions of teenagers and young adults don't even think twice before posting private information on the Internet. It's also like they think - bad things happen to other people, but not me. Yes, it's tough to try to explain how dangerous the world is today to teenagers and even young adults, but the sad truth is we were all just like them a generation ago. I know what you are thinking and you are wrong, we all were reckless in our younger years and God has just been kind enough to allow us to forget much of what happen back then.
Being a parent is tough, especially when the Internet seems like the perfect place for young people to meet and make new friends. The sad truth is that the Internet is filled with bad actors and down right crazy people who will prey on young adults if someone older is not keeping a watchful eye. I have been amazed at how many young adults regularly post personal and private information on the Internet and when I say something to them about the wisdom of those choices, they look at me like I'm a crazy old man.
The good news is that all young people eventually grow up and take greater responsibility for their own personal safety. However, the bad news is that some young people never get the chance to grow up because some psycho gets a hold of them through the Internet and ends their life. Every year as I get older, it becomes more and more tough to watch kids making mistakes that could harm them. I guess that's why young people have children, because when you get into your 50's, the easy choice would be to just never let your kids out of the house.
