Kevin Skinner Country Star?

Kevin Skinner Country Star? What do Paul Potts, Susan Boyle and Kevin Skinner all have in common? All three have appeared within the past few years on reality TV shows and knocked the socks off of not just the shows judges, but also millions of people at home watching on television. Last week, I remember after coming home from a long day at work, my wife telling me about this guy named Kevin Skinner who had preformed that night on "America's Got Talent". Like too many times before, I just let the comments from my wife go in one ear and then out the other - which was a huge mistake. Tonight, when my long hard workweek finally ended - I drank a cold beer and sat down to watched Kevin Skinner's audition on "America's Got Talent" via YouTube and was completely blown away by his amazing singing voice.

As a resident of the U.S., I have watched over the past three years as both Paul Potts and then Susan Boyle captured the hearts of people worldwide with their amazing singing voices. However, until now - I had never seen anyone before Kevin Skinner compete on "America's Got Talent" with anything close to the raw singing talent of Potts or Boyle. However, today I am pleased to say that Kevin Skinner is right up there in the same league as Paul Potts and Susan Boyle and if he does not self destruct he could very well win the 2009 edition of "America's Got Talent". What makes Kevin Skinner such a powerful talent is that like Potts and Boyle, everyone tended to judge him by his cover until he opened his mouth and started singing.

Kevin Skinner's first audition song was one of my all time favorites by Garth Brooks. The emotional song named "If Tomorrow Never Comes" originally recorded by Brooks in some ways even sounded better when Kevin Skinner sang it the other night on television than when Brooks first released it to the world. While music acts on reality TV shows like "America's Got Talent" usually change their style as the competition moves to the next stage - I really would like to hear Kevin Skinner sing my favorite country song of all time the next time he appears. That song is another one by Garth Brooks recordings named "The Dance". I have no doubt that if Kevin Skinner uses that amazing voice of his to sing one of the best country songs every written - "The Dance", at his next audition - Kevin will be in an excellent position to win the 2009 edition of "America's Got Talent".

Unlike what happened to Susan Boyle during the final stages of "Britain's Got Talent", I will be hoping that Kevin Skinner will not self destruct at the last minute from too much media attention like she did. Paul Potts really showed the way on how an unknown amazing talent can work their way through the audition system, then win the competition and then finally create a music career that will last years. The pressure that will be brought to bear on Kevin Skinner will do nothing but grow over the next few weeks as the "America's Got Talent" competition of 2009 moves into it's final stage. My hope is that rather than trying to go uptempo at his next audition, Kevin Skinner continues his brand of slow country love songs - which was so well received at his first audition and hopefully he will decide to sing Garth Brooks' best song ever, at his next audition, called "The Dance".

Hi, Mark. Unfortunately, your article is buried in the many Kevin Skinner sites. We are in total agreement that a perfect song for Kevin would be "The Dance." He wrang our hearts out with "If Tomorrow Never Comes" and then chose another Garth Brooks song for last night. Could it be that he's saving "The Dance" for last? By all means, go immediately to buy stock in Kleenex 'cause there won't be a dry eye left in the whole world.
