Michael Jackson Memorial Tuesday

Michael Jackson Memorial TuesdayAfter days of waiting, it was announced today that Michael Jackson's memorial service will take place on Tuesday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Tens of thousands of people are expected to attend. In the beginning, rumors and speculation had Michael Jackson's public memorial service taking place at "Neverland Ranch", but in the end - the ranch was in too rural of a location and lacked the type of infrastructure necessary to accommodate the tens of thousands of fans that were expected to attend.

Right now, there are no published reports that I can find which detail what kind of seating arrangements will be offered at Michael Jackson's memorial service on Tuesday. While it is possible that Jackson's memorial at the 20,000 seat Staples Center might be on a first come, first served basis - I find that scenario not likely to occur. While I mean no disrespect to the late Michael Jackson, the people that surrounded him seemed to always be trying to make a buck off his name and popularity. That is way I believe that some in his circle of friends and family might even suggest selling tickets to his memorial service to try one last time to enrich themselves at his expense.

Two other people that seems to be going out of their way to prop up their own popularity at the expense of Michael Jackson are Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. I heard of rumor today that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are currently battling over which one of them will give the public eulogy at Michael Jackson's memorial service on Tuesday. In my view, the actions of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton over the past few days has been at best in bad taste as it has become clear that both of these famous men showed up after Michael Jackson's death more so for their own self promotion than to offer Michael's family true spiritual comfort.

Hopefully, by the end of today - there will be additional information released on who will be allowed to attend Michael Jackson's public memorial service on Tuesday. Also, later this week there should be an announcement of who will give Michael Jackson's eulogy at that event. My hope is that Michael Jackson's family will decide to select someone other than Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton to give the eulogy. My vote for the best person to honor Michael's at his public memorial would go to Janet Jackson, who did a wonderful job honoring her brother at the BET Awards last Sunday night.
