So far - it has been clear that the GOP, while still able to fight the new Barack Obama administration, are quickly losing power in Washington. Now the biggest issue that conservatives care about, the US Supreme Court, is about to have a vacancy and during this next fight between liberals and conservatives will will see just how much if any clout the GOP still has in the Congress.
The decision of Supreme Court Justice David Souter to retire will create a good test for the new Barack Obama administration, but it is even a bigger test for the GOP. If many ways, if President Obama plays his cards right in the selection of a new Supreme Court Justice, he could drive the extreme conservatives that are still left in the Congress even further into the wilderness with most voters and I believe that is exactly what he is going to do.
Extremism from both the far left and right appears ugly to the vast majority of Americans who live their life as moderates. Nothing will expose the ugly side of extremism more so than a good old fashion Supreme Court nomination fight. Right now, the GOP has little power left in Washington because it moved too far to the right. However, a Supreme Court nomination fight will push the GOP even further to the right because it's grass roots base will demand it and that move could play well for the new Obama administration and Democrats in Congress.

Little White Trash / Casey Anthony
It's been a couple of weeks since I wrote anything about Casey Anthony or the murder trial she faces come October. The truth is that I have become tired of following the daily lies that are put out by her lawyers. Back in my younger days, someone like Casey Anthony would be considered little more that 'white trash' in the small town I grew up in. However, today - there seems to be a cottage industry out there that takes a piece of trash like Casey Anthony and then tries to turn her into a victim.
From the first days of this case, I have watched with amazement as first the Anthony family and then the lawyers that represent Casey Anthony worked overtime to try and convince all of us that what we saw and what we have been told are all lies. The truth is, that the truth will never set Casey Anthony free - so lies piled upon more lies are all that we get from the Anthony family or Casey Anthony's attorney's. After following the murder case of Casey Anthony for months, I just got tired of listening to the daily lies and that is why I quit writing about this case on a daily basis.
In the future I will try to write more blog posts about the Casey Anthony murder case, but I will not write about her everyday because the thought of her working on all of our emotions to try and get away with murder is more than I can take and I don't want to help her. From my old time country roots, women like Casey Anthony were and are little more than white trash that live on the manipulation of others. I will try to write more about the Casey Anthony murder case in the days and weeks to come, but just not as often - because of the sham that she and her attorney's are trying to pull on the rest of us.

Electric Windmills Are Everywhere
As I drive around the Central part of Texas each day, I am noticing more and more windmills popping up around the country side. These new windmills are not for pumping water like has been the norm in Texas for a hundred years, but these new windmills are generating power at thousands of homes and in the process saving money every month for the homeowner on electric bills and also helping to reduce carbon in the atmosphere of the Earth.
From my point of view, it makes perfect sense to see homeowners in the State of Texas using windmill power to help bring electricity to their homes. The Loan Star State has used windmill power for years to bring underground water to holding tanks where cattle could be watered statewide. Thus, it's not that big of a change for Texans to switch the primary use of windmill power from water to electricity.
I know in many areas of the country, windmill power is being resisted because of cosmetic reasons. I too understand that having a windmill in the backyard of every American home would be an eyesore for many, but I believe that eyesore could be turned into a status symbol in no time flat with the proper PR job from city state and federal government officials. It's a brand new world and new and cleaner ways of producing energy need to be used to not only help reduce our carbon footprint, but also on a more practical basis - help families save money on their monthly electric bill.

Young Do Not Fear The Internet
Most young people do not believe that bad things will happen to them, so millions of teenagers and young adults don't even think twice before posting private information on the Internet. It's also like they think - bad things happen to other people, but not me. Yes, it's tough to try to explain how dangerous the world is today to teenagers and even young adults, but the sad truth is we were all just like them a generation ago. I know what you are thinking and you are wrong, we all were reckless in our younger years and God has just been kind enough to allow us to forget much of what happen back then.
Being a parent is tough, especially when the Internet seems like the perfect place for young people to meet and make new friends. The sad truth is that the Internet is filled with bad actors and down right crazy people who will prey on young adults if someone older is not keeping a watchful eye. I have been amazed at how many young adults regularly post personal and private information on the Internet and when I say something to them about the wisdom of those choices, they look at me like I'm a crazy old man.
The good news is that all young people eventually grow up and take greater responsibility for their own personal safety. However, the bad news is that some young people never get the chance to grow up because some psycho gets a hold of them through the Internet and ends their life. Every year as I get older, it becomes more and more tough to watch kids making mistakes that could harm them. I guess that's why young people have children, because when you get into your 50's, the easy choice would be to just never let your kids out of the house.
