Would The Military Do A Better Job At Stopping The Oil Spill Than BP?

"Would The Military Do A Better Job At Stopping The Oil Spill Than BP?" Put simply, heck no they would not. I'm not sure where the idea came from to turn the job of plugging the leaking crude oil in the Gulf of Mexico over to the military, but who ever came up with that idea should have their head examined. Everyone is mad at BP right now because their oil rig has caused the worst offshore oil disaster in U.S. history, but to now take away the job of stopping this oil spill from the professionals who know best what to do and then turn it over to a bureaucracy heavy military would make matters go from terrible to a catastrophe overnight. It's right to be angry with BP because of what happened in the Gulf of Mexico, but let's please do not make matters worse by turning the job of fixing the problem over to the military.

What some on the political left need to understand is that while government can do some things well, when it comes to stuff like plugging a leaking crude oil well-head more than a mile below the surface of the water is not one of them. Ever since some environmentalist and Democratic Members of Congress started suggesting that the military take over containment and clean-up of the current Gulf oil spill, leaders in the military have been running as fast as possible in the opposite direction. U.S. military leaders know all to well how tough the job is to plug that leaking oil well in the Gulf and they want no part of the responsibility of stopping the leaking oil and/or cleaning up a mess that they did not create.
