Texas Rangers Light Up Dallas/Fort Worth

On Friday night in football dominated Texas, it was not local high school football games that dominated the minds of sports fans - but instead a DFW major league baseball team that caught everyone's attention. Last night, the Texas Rangers defeated the New York Yankees to win the 2010 American League Pennant and earn the right to play in this years World Series.

Instead of the Texas Rangers ending a long dry spell, they instead had never won a major championship series in team history until last night. Now the Texas Rangers will be traveling to either Philadelphia or San Francisco on Wednesday to represent their league in the World Series Championship. As a Texan, it has been a long year as both the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texans have struggled just to win games.

However, now that the Texas Rangers are playing in their first World Series ever - that feeling of depression has turned into feelings of pride and enthusiasm as the Rangers did what many thought to be impossible Friday night by defeating last years champs the New York Yankees. While it's still to early to know if the Texas Rangers will win the 2010 World Series, I believe they have a better than 50/50 chance of winning it all after defeating the second best team in MLB - the New York Yankees last night.
