Michael Douglas Talks About Throat Cancer (Video Replay)
Recently, mega film actor Michael Douglas appeared on the "Late Show" with David Letterman and announced that he has stage 4 throat cancer. When my wife told me about this today, I was shocked and saddened because Michael Douglas is one of my favorite actors. This summer, the long awaited sequel to "Wall Street" will begin showing in movie theaters around the world and Michael Douglas will star in that movie. I want to wish Michael Douglas all the best as he battles throat cancer using radiation and chemotherapy. If you are like me and missed Michael Douglas' announcement on the "Late Show", I have provided a video replay of that interview below. Good luck, Michael!

Gold Price Close $1500 Per Ounce On World Markets
Over the past year, some people have made the choice to invest some or most of their money in RAW Gold. Popular TV personalities like Glenn Beck from Fox News have been preaching for over a year now that the US dollar is on it's last leg and if American's want to make sure their savings don't continue to wither away, they should invest in Gold now. For most of my life, I have disagreed with the "Gold Salesmen" who show up during tough economic times to sell their product. However, at this day and time I am pretty sure that Glenn Beck and others who are preaching the long term benefits of Gold are right.
Right now, the US dollar is still King around the world - but as the US government continues to spend money that it does not have, the value of the dollar will continue to drop until eventually it will be worthless. There was a time in my life when I really believed that after a liberal President and Congress finished their overspending ways, a conservative lead government would ride into Washington D.C. to fix their errors. However, the days when GOP leaders stood for fiscal discipline and lower taxes has faded from view and now the GOP does not appear to be that much better than the Democrats when it comes to out-of-control government spending.
So, what's left for the American people to do with their money in savings? I guess we could all just continue to leave that money in an FDIC insured account earning less than 1% interest or we could put a good chunk of it into RAW Gold as our investment of choice. 30 years ago, I believed rightly that the folks who were pushing Gold as a good investment were little more than "snake oil salesmen. However, today I think that Gold is an excellent investment - if the fees to buy it are not outrageous. Neither major political party in Washington has one bid of self control when it comes to spending borrowed and/or taxpayers money. Gold use to be a hedge against inflation, but today it might be the only currency that is free from the effects of disastrous federal government overspending.

Will Hurricane Earl Cause NYC Evacuation?
To me, nothing seems more strange than a hurricane barreling into New York City (NYC). However, hurricanes have struck this nations largest city before - so local residence and "Big Apple" meteorologist are keeping a close eye on Hurricane Earl as it approaches the U.S. east coast. Latest weather reports place Hurricane Earl not making landfall at all in the United States, but instead it will skip along the east coast from the Carolina's to Maine and eventually end up making landfall in Canada. When the next big hurricane strikes NYC, it will cause more damage than most people could imagine. That leads to my next question and that is "will New York City issue an evacuation order as Hurricane Earl approaches"?
I'm not even sure if it would be possible for either the local, state or federal authorities to be able to evacuate NYC as Hurricane Earl approached. Tens of millions of people call the New York City (NYC) area home and if the expected path of Hurricane Earl continues as it has been the past few days - sometime around Labor Day the City of New York will receive the full force of Hurricane Earl winds and storm surge. If you think back to 2005 when Hurricane Katrina took out most of the City of New Orleans, there were thousands of people stranded even with many days warning time for folks to get out of the city.
The difference between New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and NYC and Hurricane Earl in 2010 are like the difference between night and day. For one thing, tens of millions more people call the NYC area home compared to New Orleans. Also, if there was ever a need to evacuate the greater NYC area - it would probably take close to a month for everyone to be removed from that huge city. Unlike New Orleans, where most people know how to drive a car - in New York City, most residence use public transportation to get from point A to point B and there is just not enough buses and trains to effectively evacuate NYC in a matter of days. Let's all hope and pray that Hurricane Earl does not take direct aim at NYC, because if it does the disaster there will make Hurricane Katrina (2005) look like nothing at all.

Casey Anthony Proves That Evil Is Difficult To Spot
Long before Casey Anthony was front page news, I had tried to find ways where an average person could spot a cold blooded individual who might do them harm. It's not as easy as most people might think to really spot a narcissistic sociopath like Casey Anthony. In fact, from my experience - most evil people are very well liked by the people around them. Before the spotlight of a major police investigation put Casey Anthony front and center in a murder investigation, she was a popular person as well with the exception possibly of her mother and grandmother who she always seemed to owe money to. No one wants to admit it now, but the fact is that Casey Anthony is an attractive woman and that physical characteristic also allowed her to be evil down deep inside her soul without most people even noticing.
Hollywood movies have brainwashed the public into believing that an evil person, like Casey Anthony, must be physically ugly in order to commit the murder of a child. It would be nice if life were that easy, but it is not and it never will be easy to spot a good person from a bad one. Casey Anthony does have one major trait that should cause anyone to mistrust her stories and/or words. That trait is the ease at which she lies and manipulates events in her life. Ever since good looking serial killer Ted Bundy was caught, all thinking people have tossed out those old Hollywood stereotypes where an evil rapist or murderer looks and acts the part in a movie.
For years, I have found it successful to judge other human beings based on their personal character and not physical appearance. Sure, like everyone else, I notice a good looking person when they come into my space - but I do not allow myself to be talked into or manipulated by such people when I make my daily choices in life. As Casey Anthony's murder trial nears in 2011, I hope that none of the jurors who will decide her fate - let her physical appearance and/or demeanor cloud their judgment when deciding the facts in this case.
