Flanked by what he called middle-class Americans at the White House, Obama said the July figures showed 29 straight months of job growth, including 1.1 million new jobs this year, following the recession that was in place when he took office in January 2009. "We haven't had to come back from an economic crisis this deep or this painful since the 1930s," Obama said.
