Will There Ever Be Another Triple Crown Winner?

It hurt really bad yesterday when California Chrome pooped out and was unable to win the Belmont Stakes. It's been so long, the 1970's, since a horse was able to win the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes and the Belmont – I'm beginning to wonder if any horse will win the Triple Crown, again. I'm sure eventually, a horse will come along with just the right breading to win all three legs of horse-racings biggest award – but it might be decades from now before that happens. There was anger from one of California Chrome's owners yesterday after a horse that did not race in the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes ended up in the winners circle. Basically, he was saying that the owners and trainer of 'Tonalist' cheated by skipping the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes. Skipping those other two races allowed 'Tonalist' to be well rested going into the Belmont. The fact that owners of horses today seem more concerned with strategy than in keeping the integrity of the sport pure, also does not build confidence in the public that another horse will win the Triple Crown anytime soon.
