How Will Detroit's Big Three CEO's Travel To This Weeks Congressional Hearings?

In what turned out to be one of the biggest PR blunders in history, a few weeks ago the CEO's of the Big Three automakers in Detroit showed up at congressional hearings in Washington by all three of them traveling there on different private jets. What made this situation so terrible was that these CEO's were attending congressional hearings in which they were begging the Congress and the American people for a bailout of their industry.

It was understandable why most Members of Congress and the American people were disgusted with these three CEO's as they were proof positive of what is not only wrong in the US automobile business, but with publicly traded companies on Wall Street as well. There has been a serious disconnect between average Americans and CEO's for a long time now and in recent weeks, for the first time, most of these CEO's are starting to see that their high flying ways are soon coming to an end.

Next week these same CEO's will be back before Congress once again to ask for more taxpayer money and it will be interesting to see what means of transportation they choose this time when traveling to Washington. My personal opinion is that they should either fly coach, like most other Americans, or they should car pool to these hearings in an effort to prove to the American people that they understand that there are millions of regular people that are hurting right now because of the struggling US economy.

Death At Walmart In New Jersey Was Caused By Creative Marketing/Advertising

There are many good aspects to capitalism, but there are a few negative aspects and one of those was shown this holiday weekend at a Walmart in New Jersey when an excited crowd of shoppers trampled to death a Walmart temporary worker as he opened the doors to shoppers who were baited into coming out early to shop at that store by marketing executives at the company.

For decades now, major retail companies like Walmart and Target have spent millions of dollars on television and print ads in the days leading up to 'Black Friday'. Almost all of those ads encourage everyone to come to their stores in the pre dawn hours to get the best deals on gifts for Christmas. Then like zombies, thousands of eager Christmas shoppers line up in the darkness and they are prepared to rush into the door the minute it opens so they can get the best deal on the perfect Christmas gift.

While no one at Walmart wanted to see any of their employees killed because they were trampled to death, in reality it was just a matter of time before someone was killed because this retail giant has Christmas marketing down to a real science. Now a person is dead in New Jersey who was more than likely working a temporary job in order to purchase gifts for Christmas as well. With millions of dollars on the line for retailer this Christmas shopping season, many new types of marketing tricks may be used between now and Christmas Eve and I just hope that no one else is killed in the process.

Oklahoma Defeats Texas, Will Play In Big 12 Title Match Game Against Missouri

College football would be so much better if there was a playoff system that selected teams to play in a national championship game, rather than the current BCS system that no one likes. While the 2008 Big 12 playoff game between Oklahoma and Missouri was not decided by the BCS, rules written by that organization were used to select Oklahoma over Texas even though Texas defeated Oklahoma this season.

Every time the holiday season rolls around, millions of Americans look forward to watching the best college football teams in the nation play against each other. Then around the New Year, there are a series of big bowl games that lead up to a national championship game played between the two teams that BCS rules state to be the best in the nation. While no one really likes the current BCS playoff system, no one has stood up yet to make the changes that are necessary to put a real playoff system into place for college football.

When asked a few weeks ago by a reporter if he would like to see a playoff college football system, rather than the current BCS mess - President Elect Obama came down firmly on the side of the playoff system. In fact, President Elect Obama said that he would bring as much pressure as was necessary on the powers that be in college football to change this system that is not fair and totally ignores schools that do not get sufficient TV airtime during the season.

Grief/Sadness Will Soon Turn to Anger/Rage As Dead Buried In India

Americans understand all too well what emotions the Indian people are feeling today as many of them are completely overcome with grief and sadness. The first few days after 911, most Americans found themselves crying because of the loss of life during those terrorist attacks - but that initial sadness soon turned to anger and rage against the terrorist that attacked the US.

This weekend will be the time when the citizens of India will be burying their dead, while at the same time wondering why those ten men decided to kill total strangers in the first place. However, before next weekend rolls around - millions of Indians will have their hearts filled with anger and rage against the terrorist leaders that planned these attacks from some safe haven in a far away land. Then, like all human beings, their feelings will move from rage to revenge and at that point the government in India will need to be careful not to strike back at the wrong targets.

While revenge is a natural human emotion, it often times lead good and honest people to do terrible things to people who did not harm them. The people responsible for planning the terrorist attacks in India last week need to pay for their crimes, but it is critical that the right people are punished and not people who are just suspects. The people of the world will learn a great deal about the government in India over the next few weeks as they will being the task of tracking down who was at the top of the food chain when it came to planning last weeks terrorist attacks.

Black Friday Sales Increase 3% Over 2007 Levels As Consumers Continue To Spend

When I heard the news late yesterday that 'Black Friday' sales had increased 3% over that same days sales one year ago, I frankly did a double take because the ever deepening recession in the United States has been front page news now for weeks. Just where is all of this money coming from when we are told that Americans do not save and also that their credit card limits are being reduced?

My guess is that Americans really do save more money than most experts believe and also I believe that maybe the severity of the credit crisis when it comes to credit card limits might be exaggerated. The few credit card companies that have not lowered their credit limits are reportedly increasing the interest rates that they charge on balances carried over from month to month, so there may be a delayed reaction to this years Christmas shopping season.

One thing has proven to be right time after time and year after year and that is, American consumers love to shop and buy nice things for themselves and the people that they love. The Christmas shopping season of 2008 is off to an excellent start, but there are many days and weeks to go before Christmas Eve arrives and the official end of 2008 holiday sales are reported by major retailers.

Foreign Terrorist Cells Are Trying To Start A War Between India/Pakistan

While most people in the world pray for less war, terrorist love it when major nations are battling against each other because it takes attention away from their ruthless goals. I believe the terrible violence we have witnessed on TV in India for the past few days, was perpetrated because there are some terrorist elements in Pakistan and India that would love to see these two nuclear powers wage war against each other.

There has been little love between the neighbors of India and Pakistan for a long time and when anything terrorist related happens in either country, it is common for the government of the attacked nation to blame the other. Right now, most government officials and citizens of India are already blaming the terrorist attacks of the past few days on extremist in Pakistan and while they are mostly right about the origin of these terrorist - that is a far cry from the government of Pakistan condoning or even helping these terrorist carry out their attacks.

Just like in the United States on September 11th, 2001 - millions of citizens of India feel as though their very security was put under threat the past few days as they watched helplessly as ten terrorist killed and/or wounded hundreds of innocent citizens. Not since 911 have I seen terrorist so organized when it comes to carrying out their plans of mass murder. The good news is that one of the ten terrorist that attacked India is still alive and freely talking to Indian government officials about how they organized this massive terrorist attack that claimed so many innocent lives.

Dying For A Good Deal On Black Friday, Some People Really Were Killed

It is not uncommon for customers and employees of retail stores to be injured on 'Black Friday', but in 2008 some people were actually killed when throngs of customers rushed the doors of some retail locations when they first opened before dawn. The most publicized death from yesterday's 'Black Friday' shopping happened at a Walmart in New Jersey when a temporary employee was run down by eager shoppers shortly after opening the doors early Friday morning.

The hype and excitement that has been built around 'Black Friday' is something I have never understood. However, there must be some smart people in advertising agencies who think this stuff up in New York - because every single 'Black Friday', which is the Friday after Thanksgiving - there are millions of Americans that line up before dawn to rush into these stores and buy up merchandise that is in short supply and priced low.

We have all heard the term, 'dying to shop' - but that term is just a figure of speech because no one really wants to die when they visit a local retail location or shopping mall. The sad fact is that while most people are expecting retailers to have a bad Christmas shopping season in 2008, in my opinion it is already off to a bad start when someone that is just doing their job is trampled by crazed shoppers that seem to have no regard for other people that might be standing in their way when those store doors open to the public.

Finally, The Dallas Cowboys Look Like 'America's Team' Once Again In 2008

The past couple of weeks, the Dallas Cowboys have once again started to play the game of football in a way that is fitting of their 'America's Team' unofficial title. Early on in the 2008 NFL season, most Dallas Cowboys fans were eager to see their favorite team go all the way to the Superbowl this year. However, after a slow start and an injury that sidelined starting quarterback Tony Romo for several games - all seemed to be lost for the Dallas Cowboys this season, at least up until a couple of weeks ago.

Then like magic the Dallas Cowboys defense started to play better and during that same period of time, starting quarterback Tony Romo began to play like the quarterback that all Cowboy's fans expect from the leader of 'America's Team'. Last season, the Dallas Cowboys were fantastic during the first half of the season - only to fall completely apart as the playoff games approached. Last season, my emotions went from the highest of the highs to the lowest of the lows as Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys blew a perfect season only a few short weeks before the playoffs started.

Now in 2008, the Dallas Cowboys seem to be having a completely opposite type of season from what they had during the 2007 season. Rather than starting strong in 2008 and then fading away as the season drew to a close, in 2008 the Cowboys got off to a bad start, but now all of a sudden they are looking like a real playoff caliber team as the NFL season moves into December. For Dallas Cowboys fans like me, 2008 is no longer a lost cause.

Curtis L. Vance Charged In The Murder Of Arkansas TV Reporter, Anne Pressly

While remembering that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, I'm sure the arrest of Curtis L. Vance tonight in the murder death of Arkansas TV reporter Anne Pressly was welcome news to her family and to hundreds of thousands of other Little Rock residents that have most certainly felt uneasy with the thought that a killer was walking the streets around them. With the fear that Curtis L. Vance would run once it was discovered that police were interested in arresting him for this crime, the Little Rock Police Department sent out press release with a picture of Vance to all local media in the Little Rock area and within a matter of hours he was in custody.

It was only a few short months ago when Little Rock, Arkansas reporter Anne Pressly was found critically wounded in her home by her mother when she did not show up for work early one morning. While doctors in Little Rock tried to save Ms. Pressly's life, in reality her brain was dead shortly after arriving at the hospital and within a few days her family reluctantly decided to make the heart breaking decision to let her body die by removing her for medical equipment that kept her lungs breathing and heart beating.

I will be very interested to watch the trial of Curtis L. Vance as criminal proceedings move forward in Little Rock, Arkansas. If this man truly is guilty of killing this beautiful young woman, I hope he pays for his crime with his life at some future date. Unfortunately, in Little Rock and other major cities around the United States - crime is on the increase right now because of the sluggish US economy. However, just because someone might find themselves a bit down on their luck - that fact does not permit them to attack and kill other people, just because of their own short term financial problems.

Additional Citigroup Rescue Plans Are Not Supported By Most American Taxpayers

While there are many reasons why the US economy is in recession right now, one of the main causes can be tracked back to top management at large US banks like Citi not doing their jobs while middle management risked stockholders money in risky real estate deal that cost these banks billions of dollars.

For the past six months or so, Citibank and it's parent company Citigroup have been bailout out several times. First by wealthy people and governments in the Middle East and now on at least two occasion by US taxpayers. Most people I talk to are completely fed up that our hard earned tax money is being spend to prop up companies that made terrible decisions when it came to investing their companies assets in the sub-prime leading market.

When will the time come when the US government decides to stop throwing good money after bad by continuing to spend taxpayer money to save companies from themselves. The US national debt is reaching astronomical levels right now and no one in Washington is talking about the long term future damage that is being done to this nations future when all of this debt finally comes due in the years to come.

President George W. Bush Pardoned Many People Yesterday, But Not Scooter Libby

In the final days of the President George W. Bush administration, there will be a massive push by ultra right wing conservatives to get a full pardon for Scooter Libby before the US government is taken over by Democrats in January. While I disagree with ultra conservatives on most issues, when it comes to a full presidential pardon for Scooter Libby - I am on their side.

Unfortunately, the political culture in Washington D.C. is infested with political partisans that are no longer satisfied with defeating their opponents at the polls, but instead both ultra conservatives and liberals have taken their ideological fight to a court of law, which has caused many people to go to jail when no real crime was committed. That is exactly what happened with Scooter Libby.

When a special prosecutor could not convict Scooter Libby for the crime of leaking the name of Valerie Plame to the news media as being a CIA agent, the prosecutor instead worked to try and prove that some of the countless hours of testimony that Scooter Libby gave in trying to prove that he was innocent was somehow perjured. So, rather than the US special prosecutor convicting Scooter Libby of a real crime - instead the special prosecutor convicted him of a trumped up crime. I hope that President Bush will pardon Scooter Libby before he leaves office on January 20th, 2009.

Millions Of Americans Are Asking Why The Citigroup Bailout Was Really Necessary

All over the United States, millions of Americans are asking themselves why it was necessary for taxpayers to bailout Citigroup - when their own employers are struggling and adapting to bad economic times without a taxpayer bailout? The answer is pretty simple, but it is not what most Americans want to hear. If Citigroup was allowed to fail, more than likely the US economy would fall into a depression because all banks would face a 'run on money' as most Americans rushed to withdraw all of their funds.

Citibank, which is part of the Citigroup group of companies, is the largest bank in the United States and one of the largest banks in the world. From home loans, to credit cards to automobile lending - Citibank is deeply involved in all aspects of financial lending worldwide. If the US federal government allowed Citigroup to go out of business, there would be a huge ripple effect that would damage all US banks and thousands of other businesses and consumers that depend on credit to make ends meet.

While I believe the Wall Street bailout package that was approved several months ago went too far, when it comes to Citigroup - I think the US government had to save this massive financial institution or all Americans would suffer badly. That said, all top executives of Citigroup should now be forced to step down without severance as punishment for the reckless way this huge company was managed. It's one thing for the taxpayers to bailout the largest bank in the United States, it's something else entirely to allow the same management that caused many of the problems to keep their jobs.

Uncle Sam Rushes To Save Citigroup From Financial Collapse, Are They Too Late?

Most Americans are very concerned about the amount of debt the US federal government is borrowing in order to keep the economy from imploding. Early tomorrow, it is expected that the Treasury Department and the US Federal Reserve will announce a bailout package for Citigroup to help that once financial giant avoid becoming illiquid and falling into bankruptcy.

There was a time, not that long ago, when Citigroup was heralded as one of the most successful and profitable companies in the world. However, starting with the sub-prime mortgage crisis and followed by the total meltdown of stocks on Wall Street - Citigroup began to fall apart and even with billions of dollars pledged to this massive company in order to save it from their friends in the Middle East like Kuwait, Citigroup continued to lose money and their stock price could drop below $1 per share as early as this week.

A little talked about fact when it comes to Citigroup is the vast numbers of people that actually own Citigroup stock in their pensions and mutual funds. Considering that Citigroup was considered a very 'blue chip stock' not that long ago, dozens of pensions and hundreds of mutual funds own Citigroup in their mix of stock investments. Now with Citigroup stock selling for under $5 per share, hundreds of thousands of Americans are being hurt by their current financial problems - not to mention thousands of businesses and multinational companies that depend on Citigroup to make sure that their own companies continue to remain liquid.

World Waits To See If Citibank/Citigroup Will Survive Or Not, Bankruptcy Possibility?

Unlike most mortgage companies and banks that have faced liquidity problems in the United States due to the sub-prime lending crisis, Citibank/Citigroup (C) is completely different because they operate in almost every country on the face of the Earth. On Friday, there were rumors on Wall Street that Citibank was considering separating out some of the companies which make up it's whole so they could be sold in order to raise cash.

This once unbelievable scenario by one of the largest banks in the world was being considered because the stock price of Citigroup (C) has fallen below $5 per share. With the stock price of Citibank/Citigroup now hovering around $3 per share, dozens of major mutual funds around the world could be forced to sell Citigroup shares on Monday because they have rules that forbid owning stock in companies with per share values of less than $5.

I am almost 50 years old and personally never thought I would witness the day when one of the largest and most diversified financial institutions in the world would be teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. In a world where companies like Citibank/Citigroup are considered risky investments, there is a real possibility that the nations of the world could face depression in the near future. Has the time come to bury what money we have left in a coffee can in the backyard, like millions of people did during the last 'Great Depression' in the late 1930's and 1940's?

Barack Obama Considers Chet Edwards For Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary Position

Only a few months ago, Congressman Chet Edwards of Waco, Texas was found on the short list of Barack Obama's vice presidential choices and this week there are rumors circulating once again the Edwards might be asked to join the President Obama administration as the Veterans Affairs Secretary. Chet Edwards is not only my Congressman, but he is also President George W. Bush's representative in the US House of Representatives, as well.

A few days ago, Congressman Edwards was asked whether or not he would be interested in serving as the VA Secretary as a member of President Elect Obama's new cabinet and from my reading of that interview - it did not seem like he was that interested in changing jobs. Congressman Chet Edwards was just reelected to his 10 term as the Congressman for a part of Central Texas that includes Waco and Bryan/College Station.

There is no doubt in my mind that Congressman Edwards is extremely happy in his current position in the US House of Representatives and while President Elect Obama could make a strong case for him taking the job as VA Secretary, I don't think Chet Edwards will accept the position. For one thing, the presidential election of Sen. Barack Obama brought additional Democrats to the US House of Representatives where Congressman Edwards holds a very high leadership position in the Democratic caucus. That said, with veterans affairs being one of Congressman Edwards top priorities - it might also be difficult for him to turn down Barack Obama, if the President Elect makes a strong case for needing Chet Edwards in the new administration to serve this nations veterans as the next VA Secretary.

Drudge/FoxNews/Limbaugh Work To Discredit Obama Before He Takes Office

It is a sad state of affairs in the conservative news business these days because few Republicans will be living in Washington D.C. come January 20th, 2009. Along with the huge landslide victory of Sen. Barack Obama on November 4th, 2008, he pulled dozens of other Democrats to the Congress along with him. In a joking sort of way, I called the trio of Matt Drudge, Fox News and Rush Limbaugh the conservative 'axis of evil' as all three of these powerful conservative media giants are working overtime to try and discredit President Elect Obama before he even takes office in January.

Every single day there is at least one negative Obama story reported by Drudge, Fox News and Limbaugh, which proves to me that this trio of American conservative media giants are very worried that the American people might just like the President Obama administration and that potential could spell doom for future conservative victories. Back when I was a regular and loyal voting Republican, conservatives were always ready to allow a new President from the Democratic Party to have a honeymoon period of leadership from which few negative news stories were written or talked about. However, now the Republican Party has been reduced to mostly conservative ideologues in the same way liberals infested the Democratic Party after the War in Vietnam.

Considering the modern day conservative movement is acting just like the liberal nut jobs that took over the Democratic Party after the Vietnam War, I predict that the number of GOP Presidents elected to office over the next 10 to 20 years could be zero. I base that observation not only on the actions of Matt Drudge, Rush Limbaugh and Fox News - but also on the fact that even after one of the biggest defeats in GOP history, the Republican leaders in the US House of Representatives and US Senate will not change - which means just more business as usual in the dying Republican Party.

Troops Say Goodbye To Iraq And Hello To Afghanistan Under President Obama

President Elect Barack Obama has made it pretty clear that his intention is to pull most US troops out of Iraq within the next year and relocate many of them to the War in Afghanistan. To that news I say, 'fantastic'. With all of the back and forth between Republicans and Democrats over the War in Iraq, the sad truth is that the United States of America under the leadership of President George W. Bush went to war with Iraq - even though they posed no real danger to our country.

On the other hand, Afghanistan and their former government under the Taliban offered a free sanctuary to al Qaeda where Osama bin Laden planned and carried out the attacks on the United States on September 11th 2001. In my mind, rather than staying the course against al Qaeda in Afghanistan - President Bush allowed his mind to get sidetracked because of a decades long hatred against the former leader of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, which caused the war effort in Afghanistan to be forgotten. In my mind, the people that lost loved ones on 911 - have not lost sight of who really caused the deaths of their friends and family, even if President Bush did.

It's time to put the War in Iraq on the back burner and get back to the real evil in this world. The biggest mass murderer in our nations history is still walking around as a free man, while the US military has been busy in another country trying to rebuild a nation that we ourselves destroyed. Hopefully, President Elect Obama will not allow his mind to get distracted to other personal military missions, so we can once and for all find Osama bin Laden and bring him to the justice that he rightly deserves.

Federal Reserve Is Hiding The Names Of Banks That Receive Government Money

The US Federal Reserve is refusing to give the names of some banks and financial institutions that are receiving money under the $750 billion bailout package. This short sighted decision by the fed is a huge mistake and it will only lead already disgusted and angry taxpayers to believe that something fishy is going on with their tax money. More than likely, it's the banks that want to keep their names out of the media because if word leaked out that they were receiving money from the US Federal Reserve - their stock price would likely drop because this bailout money would be a sign that all is not well at their financial institution.

That said, there is so much free taxpayer money floating around between the US Federal Reserve and the US Treasury Department right now - that very soon reports of wide spread abuse will be reported and with a wall of silence being practiced by the US Federal Reserve, the problem will only get worse. Mark my words, this whole Wall Street bailout package will someday be viewed as the biggest waste of taxpayer money in the history of the United States. There are already rumors that some major banks are taking their windfall of cash and rather than using it to increase liquidity in the financial market - they are instead using taxpayers money to buy smaller banks to increase the size of their businesses.

It is an outrage that American taxpayers were not only ripped off once by the greed of Wall Street, but it appears that the US Federal Reserve and US Treasury Department are going to help Wall Street bankers do it all over again. I certainly hope that when Barack Obama becomes the next President that he has the intelligence to put in some really tough regulations on these Wall Street bankers who could very well be lining their pockets once again with our hard earned tax money.

There Is Not Much Love Between Barack Obama And President George W. Bush

Yesterday, President Elect Barack Obama and President Bush sat down for a two hour meeting at the White House and from leaked reports the two did not agree on many things. Why that would surprise most members of the mainstream media is beyond me because during the 2008 presidential campaign it was clear from the very beginning that Sen. Barack Obama was a total opposite of President George W. Bush. What is still hard for me to understand is how President Bush can still be so out of touch with the feelings of the American people and their dissatisfaction with the way he preformed his job as the 43rd President of the United States.

I know that all President's live in a bubble where their everyday interaction with regular people in somewhat controlled, but President Bush has taken that level of isolation to a whole new level during his two terms in the White House. During President George W. Bush's first four years as President he started to become completely obsessed with winning the War in Iraq and during that same time period was when all kinds of economic problems started happening inside the United States. While I believe President Bush can do more than one thing at a time, I believe the War in Iraq sucked up all of his internal energy to the point that he just ignored most other problems.

Hopefully, the management style of President Obama will be different from President Bush. The United States does not need an obsessed President, but instead a man or woman that can focus on a range of issues and be able to change their mind if real life events don't go according to plan. Most people today believe that President Obama will lead the US in a liberal way, but my personal opinion is that despite all of the professional talking heads belief's that Obama is a liberal - I think, in the end, he will turn out to be a true moderate - which is exactly what this nation needs after eight years of extreme conservative leadership.

It Would Be A Huge Mistake For Obama To Trust Right Wingers Like Limbaugh

Now that Barack Obama has won the 2008 race for the White House in landslide proportions, it would be a huge mistake for him to take any advice from right wing radio talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh. Just like in his own Democratic Party, President Elect Obama is going to find some members of the Republican Party that want to reach out to him and try and lead his administration in a way that is more favorable to their own personal point of view. I wrote earlier about the biggest threat facing the Obama administration and that is left wing nut jobs that want to try and push their own personal agendas at the expense of the hard work that Barack Obama has put into being a moderate politician.

Extreme ideology is what has lead this great nation to the point of disaster. In my childhood, it was extreme liberalism that lead to the rise of great leaders like Ronald Reagan during the 80's and if President Elect Obama is not careful, members of his own extremist left wing will lead him down the same path that doomed Democrats in the past. That said, in the past 20 years or so - Rush Limbaugh and other extremist right wingers have infiltrated the GOP with a completely opposite form of liberalism and in my view it is just as, if not more, dangerous than the liberal nut cases that took over the Democratic Party in the 1960's.

I believe Barack Obama is an honorable man and also a person that understands that extreme ideology is a negative, rather than a positive attribute to this great nation. The GOP answer to extremist liberal behavior of the 1960's was to replace it with extremist conservative values in the 80's and 90's. That extremist conservative vision of the United States reached it's peak during the President George W. Bush administration and is now on the decline. So the next question is, 'will liberalism once again take over the United States' or 'will a more moderation nation come back into fashion' - which will take this great country into the future?

Pros/Cons Of Inviting Republicans To Join The President Obama Administration

After all major presidential elections in the United States, there is a big call for bipartisanship from the new Commander-in-Chief and with the election of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States the same call for cooperation is being made by some on the GOP side that right now are feeling pretty left out. In my opinion, President Elect Obama should keep his focus on doing the right thing for the American people more so than inviting in Republicans who might be more interested in helping him fail than in pushing forward with his change agenda for America.

Like most Americans, I am sick and tired of political partisans that care more about lining their own pockets with our hard earned tax money - than they are working together to do what is right and in the best interest of the United States of America. Does anyone really believe that if John McCain won on election day that he would be lining up Democrats to serve in his administration? The vast majority of people that voted for Barack Obama to be the next President of the United States did so with the hope that he would do the right thing and clean up Washington and get our tattered economy back on the right track. Almost no one voted for Barack Obama because they thought he would lead this country in a bipartisan way by inviting members of the GOP into his administration.

On the pros side of inviting Republicans to serve in the new administration, Obama might win a few friends in the short run by appointing Republicans to his new team. However, the cons side is a far bigger problem for President Elect Obama and I believe he should stick with the folks that brought him to this job rather than reaching out to people that wanted him to lose on election day. When all the dust clears, most leaders in the GOP want to see President Obama fail so members of their own party can take over after the next election. There are plenty of good people in the Democratic Party that are ready and willing to serve and they should be on the top of President Obama's list to appoint to his new administration.

Gay Marriage Issue Could Create 'Big Time' Problems For President Barack Obama

The anti-gay marriage Proposition 8 which passed in California on November 4th, 2008 could be the first test of President Obama when he takes office on January 20th, 2009. In the most liberal state in the United States of America, California residents passed a law that basically outlawed gay marriage in that state which outraged hundreds of thousands of gay activist. Most gay Americans are proud supporters of the Democratic Party, but from the beginning of the 2008 race for the White House, Barack Obama has made it clear that he too believes that legal marriage should remain between one man and one woman in the United States.

When Bill Clinton became the 42nd President of the United States, his administration suffered a self inflicted wound when they tried to allow gays to openly serve in the US military. In 2008, will President Elect Barack Obama make that same mistake by over ruling the will of voters in California on the issue of gay marriage or will he travel a more moderate course of leadership which will not leave the rest of his domestic agenda in pieces? Unfortunately, both the Democratic and Republican Party's have their fair share of ideological groups that demand that their wishes be granted in their entirety or they will depart with their money and votes on a single issue.

If President Elect Obama is smart and I think he is, he will stay away from this gay marriage issue in California like the plague. Just like with former President Clinton, the most radical parts of the Democratic Party are trying to get their left wing agenda passed under a new Obama administration, while at the same time most Americans are not in favor of that agenda. Unlike former President Clinton, President Elect Obama has the benefit of hindsight when it comes to putting his reputation behind gay activist in California that want to change what is and is not legal when it comes to marriage before the American people are ready to accept that change. In some ways, former President Clinton destroyed all that he really wanted to do to change health care because he lost most of the American people when he wanted gays to openly be able to serve in the US military. Will President Obama make that same mistake when it comes to gay marriage issues?

Barack Obama Looked Very Presidential In His First News Conference Friday

Friday, President Elect Barack Obama held his first news conference and in my opinion he looked very serious and presidential when he took reporters questions for the first time since he won the Office of President last Tuesday. Let's face it, President Elect Obama will have his plate full when he takes the oath of office as our next President on January 20th, 2009. While most Americans showed up on election day and voted for Barack Obama for President, those votes have not turned anything around in the US economy as of yet and some of the massive losses on Wall Street and yesterday's jobs report prove that fact.

Just like all President's before him, it will be interesting to watch President Obama age well beyond his years over the course of the next four years. The long hours and life or death decisions that a US President must make on a daily basis takes a toll on everyone that assumes this nations highest office. However, Barack Obama is a young man and my guess is that he will weather the problems that will face him at the White House just as well or maybe even better than Presidents that have come before him. One thing that will help President Obama get through the hard days and nights as President will be his two young daughters because his big decisions could effect them more than the rest of us that are well past mid-life.

Rather than acting like a party frat boy, like President Elect Clinton did before he was sworn into office as the 42nd President of the United States - President Elect Obama looked like a President yesterday as he took questions from the press and with the exception of making a bad joke at the expense of Nancy Reagan, I thought all in all that news conference went well. Only time will judge if President Obama's choices as President put this nation back on a sound course financial over his term in office. However, I believe most Americans will give him some time to make the changes that he believes will help this country start growing again and hopefully he really is as smart of a man as most people believe him to be right now.

President Bush Rushes To Get Barack Obama Up To Speed On World Intelligence

Six in ten American voters said that the main reason they voted for Barack Obama over John McCain was because they thought Obama would better help the US economy. However, as President Elect Obama is well aware - there are other issues facing the United States around the world and to his credit President Bush is working overtime to make sure that Barack Obama becomes our next President with all the same intelligence information that he receives each and every day.

Everyone knows that the world is a very dangerous place with terrorist working overtime to try and find new ways to attack America. While the economy of the United States is and should be President Elect Obama's top priority, in order to build and maintain a strong US economy - he must also protect the homeland from foreign and domestic threats to our very survival as a nation. Already, President Bush has instructed all branches of US intelligence to travel to Chicago and give top secret briefings to President Elect Obama months before he becomes the 44th President of the United States. The transition of power between President's is much different today than it was when President Clinton transferred power to President Bush. After the terrible terrorist attacks on September 11th 2001, a new President must be up to speed on everything going on around the world on day one.

I told someone at my office the other day that I thought Barack Obama was a smart man and what our country really needed the most right now was someone smart that could cut through the daily clutter and see the difference between a real threat to our nation and just something that political partisans might want to accomplish for their own selfish reasons. As a person that voted for President Bush twice only to regret my votes later on, I am pleased that he is doing the right thing now by offering up all the current intelligence President Elect Barack Obama needs to know before he becomes the next President of the United States.

Now That Obama Has Been Elected President, Everyone Wants A Piece Of Him

The 2008 presidential campaign has only been over a couple of days, but already people from all walks of life are lining up in hopes of getting a piece of Obama when he becomes the 44th President of the United States. One of the voices that has been active so far is Michael J. Fox who is encouraging President Elect Obama to put federal funding for stem cell research on the top of his to do list. It's very difficult to get angry at Michael J. Fox because as most of you know he is suffering from Parkinson's Disease which has made his life a living hell now for years.

While there may be honorable voices in the crowd begging for money like Michael J. Fox, there will be countless others that will be lining up at the White House to try and get some funding for their pet projects too, once Barack Obama becomes our next President. From everything that I have read so far from the Obama camp, the top priority on his list, once he becomes President, will be finding ways to improve the US economy which most experts agree is in recession right now. In fact, if the US economy was not in such poor shape, it is likely that John McCain would be taking the oath of office on January 20th, 2009 instead of Barack Obama.

Political elections in the United States are usually driven by pocketbook issues like the US economy and the jobs market. When Wall Street plunged a couple of months ago, most people that have studied the US economy for decades knew that it would not be long before those terrible losses on Wall Street trickled down to the rest of us. Now that day of doom has arrived and along with big losses in the stock market, there will soon be layoffs and few new jobs available for the unlucky American workers that find themselves in search of employment at Christmas time. While some government welfare folks will be lining up to get their free money from President Obama, I hope that he sticks to his original plan and spends his time trying to fix the US economy before he dives too deeply into changing social welfare programs.

Less Educated Voted For McCain While College Graduates Supported Obama

I guess if a person lives long enough, they will see amazing changes in the politics of both the Republican and Democratic Party's. For decades, the GOP appealed to the better educated and higher income earners in the United States - while the Democrats appealed to blue collar workers that did not have a college degree. However, in 2008 - there was a complete 'flip flop' in that voting pattern as Barack Obama received more votes from higher incoming and college educated voters, while John McCain was supported more by non college graduates and blue collar workers.

It is far too early to know if the voting patterns of 2008 will hold up in future elections, but at least during the presidential election of 2008 - the electorate in the United States changed their view of what Democrats and Republicans stand for by changing the way they voted. All through my adult life, most people I knew that worked in blue collar jobs voted in large numbers for democratic candidates. In fact, I have heard many of these people tell me in the past that Democrats stand up for the working man, while Republicans are the party of the rich. In 2008, that old scenario did not hold up as the rich voted for Obama while the lower middle class and poor voted for McCain.

This change in voter attitudes might also help explain why John McCain lost and Barack Obama won. The old style liberal playbook of acting like they (Democrats) were standing up for the working man while at the same time enriching themselves while also helping the rich to get richer did not work well for Democrats in national presidential elections over the years. At least for now there is a reversal in political support that favors the Democrats and the news of 2008 voting patterns is probably not setting well with the powers that be in the GOP. It will take several elections cycles to know for sure, but it is possible that in future years it will be the Republican Party that is standing up for the working man - while Democrats will better represent the interest of high income and better educated Americans.

Fairness Doctrine Will Return Under President Obama/Democratic Congress

Not long after Barack Obama takes the oath of office to become the 44th President of the United States, he along with a new almost super majority in the Congress will get about the work of returning the 'Fairness Doctrine' to the United States. Most people do not even know what the 'Fairness Doctrine' is, but the same is not true of ultra conservatives that listen to Rush Limbaugh and other right wing talk radio shows. Put simply, the old 'Fairness Doctrine' stated that anytime a radio or television news show expressed political opinions - that radio or television station was required to give equal time to the other side.

For years, the United States of America was served well by the 'Fairness Doctrine' and it's equal time requirements - but in reality I believe the country was served even better when the 'Fairness Doctrine' was abandoned. I enjoy listening to Rush Limbaugh, from time to time, because I like his brand of humor. That said, many of his political opinions are too politically extreme for me - but I do have an on/off button on my radio, so when Limbaugh goes off the conservative deep end - I just turn off my radio. Many on the left are angry that conservatives dominate the AM radio dial, while liberals have never mastered getting their own believers to listen regularly to any radio talk show in great numbers.

While I believe the 'Fairness Doctrine' will be returning to the United States and to a certain extent it will effect radio personalities like Rush Limbaugh, in the end millions of conservatives will just find a new way to listen to their brand of radio news commentary. While some may try and regulate the speech of others through good sounding regulations like the 'Fairness Doctrine', in the end - both conservative and liberal Americans will find new ways to follow their own brand of political commentary.

Americans Of All Races Voted For Barack Obama For President Of The United States

Last night, history was made in the United States of America as the first multiracial man ever was elected as the next President of the United States. To some African-Americans, Barack Obama represented the first black President of the United States - but to millions of other people, President Elect Obama represents their multiracial heritage, too. The reason the election of Barack Obama as our next President was so important to so many people is because US history is littered with our dark past of slavery and what that past still means to millions of people even today.

The feminist movement has long talked about the 'glass ceiling' that has occupied the political world and business since the first founding of this country. However, to millions of multiracial Americans - there has been a different king of 'glass ceiling' to overcome because of the deep seeded roots of racism which was made worse by our nations history of enslaving human beings based on the color of their skin. Yesterday, President Elect Barack Obama not only broke through that 'glass ceiling' for multiracial citizen of the United States - but he blasted right though it for women as well because of the landslide nature of how he won the election.

If the American people solely voted yesterday based on their own racial heritage, then this morning John McCain would be the President Elect instead of Barack Obama. No, it was not just African-Americans that elected Barack Obama as our nations leader for the next four years - but a wide variety of citizens from every different racial background and gender that made history possible in yesterday's election. In my lifetime I have now witness two historic events. The first one was the terrible terrorist attacks on the US in 2001 and now in 2008 I have witness another piece of American history when a non all white male won the office of President of the United States for the first time.

Will Liberal Leadership Under President Obama Bankrupt The United States?

After a long fought presidential campaign, all the votes have been cast and counted and the next President of the United States will be Senator Barack Obama of Illinois. During this long and nasty campaign, there are members of the Republican Party that are shaking in their shoes at the prospect of not only a liberal democratic President by the name of Barack Obama - but they are even in more fear that few GOP Members of the US House of Representatives and US Senate will be around to stop many of the crazy liberal programs that got this country into trouble decades ago.

While I am flying solely on personal opinion in this statement, I do believe in the end it will be President Elect Barack Obama that will be the moderate voice in Washington once he takes the oath of office in January. Last night, as President Elect Obama talked to the nation after his landslide victory, I saw a change in his facial expressions from a young and vibrant candidate for the Office of President of the United States, to a man that understands that there will be pressures put on him from all political spectrum's once he becomes our next President.

Unlike President Clinton before him, I believe that President Obama will lead this great nation in a more moderate rather than liberal path and certainly he will not make the same mistakes that President Clinton made in his first few months like proposing openly gay relationships in the military. Now that Washington D.C. is going to be filled with liberals, a smart man like President Elect Obama understands all too well that if he allows the Congress to take the United States of American in too liberal of a direction too quickly - today's vote of faith by the American people could be lost in no time flat. My opinion is that in some ways, President Obama will be more conservative than even President George W. Bush was during his two terms in office.

Goodbye 'Joe The Plumber' Sideshow Act From Senator John McCain Campaign

A couple of weeks ago, all anyone in the national news media could talk about was an unknown guy from Ohio that was famously named 'Joe the Plumber' by Senator John McCain. Even in the last presidential debate of the 2008 campaign, John McCain brought up 'Joe the Plumber' on numerous occasions and after now President Elect Obama responded to McCain's attacks - 'Joe the Plumber' soon became the poster child for this election year.

Now that McCain has lost and Obama has won, 'Joe the Plumber' can go back to his day job of helping people in northeastern Ohio keep their plumbing working the way it should, instead of being used by a desperate presidential campaign that had nothing to run on but fear itself. John McCain's service to this country during a time of war should never be down played because he is a national hero. However, the depts to which McCain stooped to reach out to some of the rank and file of the GOP was degrading to this US war hero.

The way that John McCain used 'Joe the Plumber' to try and do the impossible and win a presidential campaign while the US economy was in a full fledged 'free fall' is not the stuff legends are made of. Instead, it smacks of exploitation that many Americans once believed that John McCain stood above for most of his political career. While campaigning in the final days of the 2008 race for the White House, Sen. McCain said that 'Joe the Plumbers' income would soon reach the $250,000 rich level as proposed by now President Elect Obama because he (McCain) was hiring him to do plumbing work on all of he and Cindy's many properties. In hindsight, I wonder if Sen. McCain regrets using this honest man from Ohio as a political pawn in his failed presidential campaign?

Bush Calls Obama, Invites Him To The White House After Big Election Victory

Very few Americans are fortunate enough to have regular access to the President of the United States and those that have had access to President George W. Bush have said that he is totally different in private than he appears on television. Rather than being distant and out of touch with what is going on around him, in private talks - most people say that President Bush is very alert and on top of most issues. Maybe that is why President Bush reached out early to President Elect Obama to both congratulate him on his landslide victory last night and to invite he and his family to the White House, at Obama's convenience, to take a look around at their new home for the next four years.

The wording of President Bush's call to President Elect Obama is exactly the kind of communication that most Republican Americans had hoped he could convey to everyone else as he lead this country for the past eight years. However, President Bush's lack of communication skills on television eventually doom his legacy, at least over the short term, and in a way that is a a shame. I do not think that President Obama will suffer from the same type of television communication troubles that President Bush suffer from because it has been clear for months that when it comes to speaking to audiences both large and small - Obama has the Reagan touch with communications skills.

Soon, President Bush will be vacating the White House and Barack and Michelle Obama will become the new residents of this most famous house at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Over the history of this great county there have only been 43 President's of the United States and when Barack Obama takes the oath of office in January he will become the 44th President of the United States during a tough time in this nations history. All I can say is, 'Good Luck Mr. President Elect Obama' because you are going to need it.

Election Night 2008 Was Exciting To Watch, But I Still Missed Tim Russert

Maybe I was alone last night in feeling a sense of sadness as election returns were coming in from around the country because 2008 was the first presidential election in a long time where I was unable to watch the late Tim Russert work his magic with the camera and his little tally board which he made famous back during endless 2000 presidential campaign between Bush and Gore.

Surely, I was not the only person that was thinking of Tim Russert last night as Tom Brokaw and Brian Williams did an outstanding job of reporting the results of today's election. Back in 2000, I knew very little about Tim Russert - but as that election night turned into weeks of court battles and daily updates from NBC News, Tim Russert earned my respect and he never lost it up until the day he died this past summer.

While the coverage on NBC News last night was very good, it would have been so much better with the enthusiasm of Tim Russert on the set as history was made when Barack Obama was elected the first multiracial President of the United States. I could just imaging what the smile on Tim Russert's face would have been like as he proudly would have boomed out exactly what most people at home were thinking in their own minds. The world lost a great man when Tim Russert died and tonight's 2008 election coverage on NBC was bitter sweet because he was not on the set doing what he did best.

November 4th 2008, From Slavery To National Leadership - Barack Obama Wins!

All I can say is wow to the amazing landslide victory of Barack Obama tonight as he becomes the new President Elect of the United States of America. Only a few generations ago, the United States was populated by African-Americans as unwilling slaves that were sold to white Americans in the most disgusting chapter of this nations history. Then tonight, a multiracial man (half black and half white) won the office of President of the United States in a commanding fashion.

Just a few decades ago almost everyone in the United States believed that it was impossible for any candidate of color to be elected to our nations highest office. However, through a series of lucky breaks and a campaign plan that was perfect in all ways, Barack Obama will become the next President of the United States at the end of January 2009. While some might disagree, I believe the person that helped Barack Obama become the first multiracial President of the United States the most was President George W. Bush.

Without President Bush's stubbornness toward the American people, most Americans - especially Republicans would have held to the party line vote today. However, over the past eight years - President Bush set about destroying the Reagan coalition that brought all aspects of the GOP together under one tent. While my state (Texas) did not provide any electoral college votes for Barack Obama today, for the first time in my life I voted for a Democrat for President of the United States in 2008. Now that Barack Obama is the new President Elect, he will have a short time window to start making changes to this country or all of the good will he is experiencing tonight could fade from view within a few short months after taking office.

Madelyn Dunham, Barack Obama's Grandmother, Dies At Age 85

As Senator Barack Obama prepares to win the 2008 presidential election in a landslide later today, the sad news of the passing of his grandmother was announced late Monday to the American people. What a tragic turn of events for Ms. Dunham to have passed away only one day before her grandson, most likely, becomes the 44th President of the United States. You may remember that a couple of weeks ago, Senator Obama put his campaign on hold for a couple of days to visit his grandmother - Madelyn Dunham - when her health took a turn for the worse after a hip fracture.

By this time tomorrow, more than likely there will be a new President Elect by the name of Barack Obama and with that news many things in this country will change. However - there is a big difference between winning a highly sought after prize like the presidency of the United States and the lifetime worth of memories an important grandmother provided when she was, for many years, Barack Obama's primary role model while growing up. When Barack Obama visited his grandmother a couple of weeks ago, he told ABC News at the time - that he did not think she would live long enough to see him elected as the next President of the United States and unfortunately he was correct in that belief.

Tomorrow's likely victory by Barack Obama will most certainly be bitter sweet for this giant of a man that literally came out of nowhere four years ago to become our next President. I can only image how proud Barack Obama's grandmother was of him and the inter peace she felt during her last days in knowing that her role in creating the character of this man was so important not only to him, but to this country that is in one heck of a mess right now. My prayers are with Barack Obama's family as they grieve the loss of this wonderful woman that without realizing it, years ago, was helping to create a future leader of the United States of America.

Rumors Are Circulating This Morning That Obama Could Win Before All Polls Close

With Senator Barack Obama far ahead in most pre election day polling, it is extremely possible that he could reach the magic 270 electoral votes before all the polls are closed on the West Coast later today. While many members of the mainstream media are concerned that calling the election for Obama will discourage some people from voting in West Coast states like California, I think that type of thinking is silly. Their job as reporters is to report the news as it happens, not try to hold back on facts just so some people on the West Coast won't decided to turn around and go home if Obama wins too early in the evening.

The single mindedness of some members of the mainstream media is a bit hard to take sometimes and their arrogance about this issue is over the top. Somehow, the powers that be in the big broadcast networks believe that if they call Obama as the winner too early, everyone out west that has not voted will somehow go home and not do their civic duty. The truth is that election 2008 is about more than just a presidential election. All members of the US House of Representatives are up for reelection and one third of US Senate seats are being contested, as well.

Put simply, the job of the mainstream broadcast news media is to report the news when they have it and not try and second guess what some people will do if a winner in the presidential contest is announced before everyone has voted on the West Coast. If people out west are so simple minded that they will refuse to vote if a winner has already been decided in the presidential race, maybe they should go home and not vote because their reasons for voting were not pure in the first place. While I agree that the winner of tonight's race will be known quickly, it is the responsibility of the mainstream media to do it's job - which is to report the news when they know it.

Circuit City Closing 155 Stores Nationwide As Slow Economy Hurts Retail Sales

It is never a good thing when a retail location closes it's doors and the employees that work there are forced to find other employment. However, when a major retailer like Circuit City makes the decision to close 155 of their stores around the United States - bad news for a few turns out to be terrible news for thousands of people. Circuit City management is reporting that these 155 retail store closings will be be completed by the end of 2008.

As the US economy continues to slide further into recession, there will be more of these terrible store closings happening in the United States - which will force thousands of hard working people to start searching for a new job in a marketplace where few employment opportunities exist. A few months ago as Wall Street was selling off at record levels, most regular Americans did not pay that much attention because most Americans don't own stocks, with the exception of their 401K plans.

However, today most Americans are starting to see the negative byproduct of those huge Wall Street losses a few months ago as those stock market losses are starting to trickling down to where we all live and work. I feel terrible for all the people that are going to find themselves out of a job at Circuit City as the Christmas holiday's end and a new year begins. I have found myself in Circuit City stores many times, over the years, looking at computers and big screen TV's. On each one of my visits to Circuit City, I have been treated kindly by the employees that work there.

It's Finally Election Day, If The Polls Are Right History Will Be Made Tonight

Not that long ago, actor Morgan Freeman was shocked that a movie producer approached him to play the President of the United States in the film 'Deep Impact'. Being that Freeman is a black man and no African-American had ever come close to being elected as President of the United States, Morgan Freeman must have thought that here is one movie producer that does not understand the realities of the United States of America.

Fast forward to 2008 and if all the polls are right, sometime later tonight Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, who is half white and half black will be elected as the 44th President of the United States. I wonder what Morgan Freeman is thinking today as a man of color is poised to win the office of President of the United States not in a close election, but from all polling data Obama will win today's election in a massive landslide?

If Obama does win today, history will be made in the United States of America. From a history of slavery and mistreatment, an African-American will rise to the highest office in the land and prove to the world that while this great nation is nowhere close to perfect, the American people are able to change over a period time and do the right thing. While white people see Obama in one way, African-Americans see him in a completely different way. The real truth is that Barack Obama is a multiracial man in a country that is quickly becoming multiracial, as well.

Election Night Tuesday Could Mirror Reagan 1984 Landslide For Obama

In the pit of my gut I have a feeling that tomorrow night (Tuesday) will result in a landslide victory for Barack Obama that will be very similar to the 1984 reelection campaign for the late President Ronald Reagan. In American history there have been few landslide elections because our great nations is made up of almost equal portions of Republicans and Democrats. However, once in a great while - events on the inside and outside of the United States cause the American electorate to swing wildly in favor of one political party over the other.

I cannot remember the exact number of states that Ronald Reagan won in his landslide election victory back in 1984, but I'll just say this - that few states when all the votes were counted were in the democratic column. In 2008, Barack Obama could very well win 40 to 45 states as well - if early voter turnout is any sign of how wildly the US electorate is swinging his way. If I am correct and 1984 is about to repeat itself again in 2008, tomorrow night will be an early night for all Americans because by the time the late local news comes on television on the East Coast, Barack Obama will be the President Elect of the United States of America.

While most political experts never thought that it would happen, in 2008 it will be young people under the age of 30 that will finally show up to vote that will make the difference for Barack Obama. In most presidential election years, big efforts are made to register young voters - but when election day comes around few of them actually show up and cast a vote. In 2008, it would not surprise me if in excess of 50% of under 30 registered voters do show up at the polls and with their strong preference for Barack Obama - they will lead Obama to a landslide victory just like Ronald Reagan had back in 1984.

President Bush Will Have Few Friends Left When He Departs Washington In January

When President George W. Bush leaves office near the end of January 2009, he will have presided over the biggest decrease of GOP politicians in Washington in decades. While it is still too early to write the final history of George W. Bush, in the short run - the 43rd President of the United States is going to have few friends left in the Republican Party after the next President takes over. From such a wonderful start where the terrible events of September 11th, 2001 gave him considerable public support to leaving office with one of the lowest public approval ratings in history, the story of the George W. Bush presidency will teach future Americans how not to run a country.

At almost every turn, President George W. Bush had opportunities to bring the American people along with him on key decisions that faced this nation. However, in the end it was an unpopular War in Iraq and a disastrous US economy that he let happen on his watch which completely torn apart any good will the American people once had for him and in the end the blind faith of GOP leaders in the Congress in following his lead will also put many of them out of work, as well.

Now the President George W. Bush tenure in office can be measured in weeks instead of months and little can be done at this late date to save his tattered reputation as our leader. However, future historians will lock onto something good about President Bush that few Americans see today because we Americans like to view our history through a positive prism. Between now and when current American memories start to fade about the leadership or lack there of, of President Bush - he will find few friends in this country and more importantly in the Republican Party which he destroyed for the foreseeable future.
