Mental Illness/Mass Murder In America

Millions of Americans are still in a state of shock one day after almost 20 young children were senselessly murdered in a Connecticut school. All the usual gun control liberals on MSNBC and elsewhere are, once again, not letting this tragedy go to waste.

All day today they have had guest after guest on their network urging more gun control. It's hard to understand how anyone could believe that more gun control would have saved those teachers and children, but there are.

Almost as a footnote, most members of the mainstream news media are not discussing the real problem which is mental illness and the lack of treatment available to those who are sick.

As I mentioned in my post yesterday, it is easier for people to blame guns and a lack of laws than it is to focus on the real issue of mental illness and sociopath personality traits.

That is why this will not be the last of these senseless tragedies to occur. The United States of America has turned into a nation of people who only see solutions to problems from either a conservative or liberal point of view.

Sadly, the treatment and/or incarceration of dangerous mentally ill people does not fall into the political narrative of either conservatives or liberals so the real problem will likely be ignored.

Late this afternoon the names of the people who were killed were released to the public. Listed below are their names and ages.

    • Charlotte Bacon, 2/22/06, female (age 6)
    • Daniel Barden, 9/25/05, male (age 7)
    • Olivia Engel, 7/18/06, female (age 6)

      • Mary Sherlach, 02/11/56, female (age 56)

May God bless the souls of those children and their teachers. As Americans we must insist that our political leaders face the fact that mentally ill people must be treated or incarcerated. If new laws are needed, let those laws deal with the real problem and not just some political agenda related to conservative or liberal politics.
