Has Late Night Talk Show Format Gone Obsolete?

For decades now - the major broadcast networks of ABC, CBS and NBC have been trying to lure young people to watch their late night talk shows. For the most part - they have been unsuccessful, because modern technology and the increasing speed of the Internet have changed radically the way everything from news to entertainment are consumed by the viewer. Only a few days ago - late night host David Letterman announced he was going to retire from his long running show at CBS. Not long before that - Jay Leno did the same thing. Now both networks have rushed to find younger faces to once again try to attract younger views to their programming. Will they be successful? I really doubt it.
