MERS Virus Cases Grow In USA

Just as has been the case in the past, there seems to always be some kind of new illness which could kill millions of people in a short period of time. Recently, there have been a few reported cases of the MERS virus in the United States. All of these case have tracked back to exposure of Americans who were traveling in the Middle East. However, this weekend it was learned that someone in Illinois was exposed and built antibodies against the disease who never left the country. It is known though that this person was in close contact with a person who did contracted MERS while visiting Saudi Arabia. There seems to be a bunch of bad news about new viruses that do not respond to conventional treatments. While MERS is bad, there are other viruses that are much worse. While most folks work hard to make their lives as safe as possible, there will always be new threats to that security from ever evolving little microscopic bugs like MERS.
